Memorial to David Y. Raju and His Lord whom he served with his whole heart!

I am taking time this moment to reflect on a brother in Christ. This brother is named David Y. Raju, a man of God, who worked in India. The emails are originals and do not have an error or English correction so as to let it be in the original of the letter(see at end of this article). We have worked with Pastor Raju for many years. Our prayers go out to him, his family, and all those children and others who loved him so.

Pastor Raju was driving alone in his car when he had a heart attack. Now he is with the Lord. So many times we get busy, not realizing how close eternity is. David was a good friend, brother, and worked hard at what he saw was a great need in India. As with many of the true brothers in India, he took in homeless children and had many in his Orphans home.

In America and most of the non 3 rd world nations, hunger, clothing, shelter, and danger is not known as it is in say, in India and other nations. In these places, people like David Raju stand up with the Gospel, because the Lord Jesus Christ delivered them and brought them out of the darkness. Many have known danger, persecution, and also death. Over the years, we have personally known some who have died as they worked for the Lord. Their lives leave a void as many do miss them. But at the same time, they leave a legacy. One of love, helping others, and the true grace of God through Jesus Christ our Lord, as David Raju was a friend, he was also one of these. A man, just a man, but one who loved his Lord and sought to do as the Lord commanded us all. To love thy neighbor as thyself, and the Lord God with all thy heart, mind, and soul, this on these two commands laid all the law and the prophets.

David my friend, you walked the paths of Jesus Christ, hand out helping others, with heart open, knowing the God of all Grace would help you. We knew of your dedication. We heard of your love. And it can be said with a heart of love:

“David Raju, we loved him, saw his work, and knew indeed, this man had been with Jesus.”

So as I bid farewell to David Raju here, I say to all who will, help us to reach out to India orphans and not only those who took over David’s ministry, but also Gilgal James.

I urge you to Fast , pray, and seek the Lord. Find out what or how you can be of more service in Love to our Lord.

Here is the last email, we have just received. His work will go on. Pastor David Raju’s daughter sent it to us, her name is Priscilla. Her brother, Rev. John Kumar will take over the Childrens Home and the ministry of David.Dear Brother Dana Smith,
 
Greetings to you from India. I’m Priscilla. I’m Pastor.David Raju’s daughter..Pastor.David Raju has dead of heart-attack on 24th of January. I sent you a mail conveying this message to you.Sorry if my mail was confusing.He got by-pass surgery 4 years ago.Hope you know this.But unfortunately,he got heart-attack and was dead few days back.
 
My brother Rev.John KUmar is now looking after the CHildren Home and Pastor.David Raju’s MInistry. Please pray for him and his Ministry.
 
Hope i’m clear in writing this mail. Please stay in touch and please continue to pray for our family and CHildren.
 
My mom and brother are sending their greetings to you and to your family.

Here was the first letter sent to us on this regard:

Dear Brother Dana G Smith,
 
This is Priscilla (daughter of Pastor.Y.David Raju)It is with a heavy heart I bring you this news about Daddy.. My Daddy(Pastor. David Raju) has passed away of heart-attack on 24th January. He was driving to a meeting, alone in his car, when the attack came. This is a devastating blow to all of us. We are as shocked as you must be.
 
Our family, Children Home and all our Pastors need your prayers more than ever now. And especially please pray for my Brother John Kumar who is going to keep the Children Home and Ministry alive and well.
 
Thank you so much for your prayers. Please convey this message to the folks there and let them know that only prayers can comfort us at this time and no human words can make us strong now.

December 3rd 2007
Dear Brother Dana Smith,
Greetings to you and to your family from your Brother pastor Y.david Raju and family and from your living orphans in Orphan Children Home in INDIA.
Thank you Very much for your kind prayers and we are also praying for you all and or your service, we never for get you in our regular prayers.
With your kind prayers and by the grace of god here all the orphans are well and they are growing well in our lords care, but the children are suffering very much due to lack of sufficient food every day, I request you please pray for these orphans and kindly help them and love them, they are all praying and looking for your kind help and love.
Please remember them in your valuable and powerful prayers.
Every day we are all praying for you and for your family, please remember us and our service in your valuable prayers.
With your kind prayers and by the lords leading here I am doing he lords work in many places, lord using me well for his great service, every day many people are getting salvation and they are accepting our lord as their personal savoir, I need your prayers and cooperation to go forward in our lords work and to win many more lost souls and to extend our lords kingdom.
 
Once again I am requesting you please pray for this orphans home and kindly help me to provide every day food to these father and motherless children, due to lack of financial support I am facing many troubles to provide every day food to these orphans in Orphan Children Home in INDIA.
 
Again I am requesting you please try to come our place to see these orphans and to do the lords work in our place, from a long time we are all praying and looking for your visit our home.
