Al-Sadr & Iraq, More Information

Editors Note: Will there be peace in Iraq? Will America ever get out of this nation? As it stands now, the cleric Al-Sadr has tremendous power. In this piece, from the Assyrian News Agency, we find some insights into Al-Sadr.

Al-Sadr Getting Ready to Lead Iraq?

USA and Iraq

NAJAF, Iraq — When the revered head of Iraq’s largest Shiite opposition group was assassinated in 1999, the mantle of leadership passed to an unexpected heir: Muqtada al-Sadr, then a 25-year-old video-game aficionado who oversaw the movement’s security forces.
Al-Sadr, now 34, has since emerged as an ardent nationalist who commands the support of hundreds of thousands of devotees and the scorn of those who see him as a thuggish militia leader. He has lately sought to reposition himself as a more mainstream figure amid increasing pressure from Iraq’s Shiite-led government.
His decision last week to allow the Iraqi army to enter the capital’s al-Sadr City district, his base of power, was the latest in a series of calming edicts that began last summer. In August 2007, he ordered his militia, which had been responsible for some of the most horrific sectarian violence in the country, to lay down its weapons.
The freeze prompted senior U.S. military officials to begin praising the young cleric, despite his steady opposition to the American presence in Iraq.
But a reminder of his unpredictability came Tuesday when al-Sadr urged his followers to stage weekly protests to denounce a long-term security pact being negotiated between the United States and the Iraqi government to set the conditions for an extended American presence in Iraq after the withdrawal of the major portion of U.S. forces.
In another sign that al-Sadr has his eye on the future, he has spent the past year studying in Iran under a politically influential cleric who runs the country’s judicial system, Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, according to several top-ranking al-Sadr aides.
Al-Sadr’s effort to burnish his theological credentials may offer some insight into his ambitions, since he is descended from a line of clerics who endorse “wilayat al-faqih,” the theory that high-ranking Shiite clerics should oversee affairs of state.
Interviews in Najaf with more than a dozen of the cleric’s top aides, friends and family members provide a rare glimpse into his attempt to convert himself from a maligned, overshadowed son into a religious and political icon as potent as his martyred father.
“I think now that the big bad ideas about Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr — that he is filled with violence and is a shallow man — have changed so much, even in the West,” said Salah al-Obaidi, one of his top advisers, using the honorific signifying Al-Sadr’s descent from the Prophet Muhammad. “We want people to know who Sayyid Muqtada really is.”
The escalating battle between al-Sadr and the government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has provided the sharpest test yet of what type of leader al-Sadr will become.
Many of his younger aides are urging him to end the cease-fire and open a broad front against government troops, whom they see as loyal to his Shiite rivals, while older clerics endorse continued restraint.
Friends say al-Sadr, who was unexpectedly thrust into the leadership of the movement, struggles with what he sees as his responsibility to help define his country’s future.
“He feels that he does not own himself anymore,” said Ahmed al-Shaibani, another top aide and close friend. “As Sayyid Muqtada always says: My lot in life is that I found the burdens of the world lying right in front of me and then decided to carry them.”
Family history
Al-Sadr, the third of four sons, was born in Najaf into one of the most revered clerical families in Shiite Islam. His father’s cousin, Grand Ayatollah Mohammed Bakr al-Sadr, was an adored religious figure who founded a school of thought that became the al-Sadrist movement, which argued that the clergy should actively engage in politics to aid the downtrodden Shiite masses. When he was tortured and killed in 1980 by Saddam Hussein’s government, Muqtada’s father, Mohammed Sadiq al-Sadr, also a grand ayatollah, took his place as the head of the movement and became a chief opponent of Saddam’s rule.
Muqtada at first attended public schools, but around ninth grade he switched to the hawza, the seminary in Najaf that is the center of Shiite learning, in part because he struggled with his studies, neighbors said. He earned the nickname Muqtada Atari because of his love of video games.
“His brain was thick,” said Abu Hawra, 47, a merchant in the Hannaneh neighborhood, where al-Sadr grew up, who would not give his full name. “His father used to complain a lot about his attendance at school. Muqtada was the source of great concern and discomfort for his father.”
Two brothers, Mustafa and Muammal, were considered the heirs apparent to the family legacy. “His father used to consider them his right and left arm,” Abu Hawra said. Another son, Murtada, reportedly has medical problems.
Al-Sadr, known in his youth for stuffing himself with as many as a dozen falafel at a time, has always been a prankster. Once, he made a big show of offering a 7-Up to a student, who was then surprised to learn that al-Sadr had filled the bottle with water. In a more recent incident, he anonymously sent Shaibani, the aide, text messages threatening to kill him, only to reveal later with laughter that it was all a practical joke.
In the late 1990s, al-Sadr’s father sent him to oversee the administration of the newly opened al-Sadr Religious University.
He married a daughter of Mohammed Bakr al-Sadr during his 20s; the couple have no children.
Al-Sadr took responsibility for the security of his father and for those attending Friday prayers.
Then, on Feb. 19, 1999, Mohammed Sadiq al-Sadr and his two sons, Mustafa and Muammal, were assassinated by machine-gun-toting men. Muqtada was propelled into the leadership of the movement.
After the 2003 U.S.-led invasion, most American officials were unaware of al-Sadr’s massive following and the hatred many of his devotees harbored toward the U.S. government. He was quickly seen as the polar opposite of Abdul Majeed al-Khoei, a rival Shiite cleric and supporter of the American invasion, who was hacked to death in Najaf in April 2003. Al-Sadr was accused of ordering the killing; his aides have denied his involvement.
Al-Sadr began speaking out against the occupation and formed the Mahdi Army militia in mid-2003. The Mahdi Army took part in two major uprisings against the U.S. military in 2004, making al-Sadr popular as a resistance figure and showing how formidable his fighters were. But the battles also engendered anger from Iraqis who saw him as a hooligan.
The reputation of the Mahdi Army as a militia of killers was cemented after Sunni insurgents destroyed the golden-domed Samarra mosque in 2006 and al-Sadrists retaliated by killing and torturing thousands of Sunnis. The cycle of revenge triggered paroxysms of sectarian cleansing that pushed the country to the brink of civil war.
By 2007, his aides said, al-Sadr had decided he needed to take steps to change the direction of the movement, prodded in part by older, more moderate clerics who had studied with his father. After giving a speech at his mosque in Kufa in the spring, al-Sadr disappeared from public view, al-Obaidi said.
After a battle in late August between al-Sadrists and government forces in the Shiite holy city of Karbala that left dozens dead, the public image of the al-Sadrists was further tarnished. Al-Sadr ordered a freeze on violence, despite the objections of close aides who thought it would be viewed as a sign of weakness.
Study in Iran
Around this time, al-Sadr decided to devote himself to religious scholarship.
He has studied for the past year under Shahroudi, the head of the Iranian judiciary, according to Abdul Razzaq al-Nidawi, Abdul Hadi al-Mohammadawi and Hazim al-Araji, three of al-Sadr’s top aides and leaders of the al-Sadrist movement. Nidawi and Mohammadawi added that al-Sadr has been studying in Qom, Iran, though Araji, like many other top aides, said he did not want to discuss al-Sadr’s whereabouts for security reasons.
The choice of an Iranian cleric as a teacher is sensitive politically, since al-Sadr espouses a nationalist philosophy and because of the U.S. military’s assertions that Iran is supplying weapons and support to militiamen affiliated with al-Sadr.
But aides said al-Sadr chose Shahroudi because he is one of the two most highly regarded disciples of Mohammed Bakr al-Sadr. Shahroudi, a native of Najaf who has run the judicial system since 1999, is seen as a relative moderate in Iran, perhaps best known for speaking out against torture and ordering a sometimes-ignored moratorium on stoning six years ago. Shahroudi’s office in Tehran did not respond to a request for comment.
Al-Sadr has said that he is at the third level of clerical study, known as external research, which precedes becoming a mushtahid, a cleric who can issue fatwas, or religious edicts, on his own authority. Achieving this status normally takes many years of study, but several of al-Sadr’s followers, including Nidawi, said they believe that al-Sadr will be certified as a mushtahid within the next year.
Many clerics in Najaf say al-Sadr is a theological lightweight. When asked to describe al-Sadr’s religious stature, Ali Basheer al-Najafi, the son of a grand ayatollah, said: “What stature? He’s studying abroad. I have nothing to say about him.”
Ghayth Shubbar, a cleric who is close to Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani, Iraq’s pre-eminent Shiite cleric, said al-Sadr’s certification from Qom is unlikely to be accepted in Najaf. “He is a student with no distinction. He was not famous for his scholarship,” said Shubbar, who added that the real measure of a cleric’s stature is how many academics attend his lectures.
How many showed up to al-Sadr’s?
“As many as the fingers on a single hand,” Shubbar replied.
Even al-Sadr’s closest aides say it is impossible to know what path he will choose for the movement. But they said he will not be pressured into a hasty decision.
“He is not the kind of man,” al-Obaidi said, “who plucks the fruit before it is ripe.”

The Mars lander

On May 25th, 1787 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania delegates convened to write a new constitution in what was the first major constitutional convention. George Washington presided over the event. Later, after the union was formed, May 25th 1961 to be exact before a joint session of congress John F Kennedy announced his goal to initiate the Apollo Program to put a man on the moon before the end of the decade. It was many years later on May 25th 1977 that George Lucas brought his film to the forefront and released it. It immediately became a classic.
The date of May 25th has run through American history. Across time and space, a cold, dry world with a thin carbon dioxide atmosphere lay still except for a small object. It is a dry world, with no liquid water, no rivers, lakes, or oceans. It has been the subject of Sci-fi movies, speculation, and the object of men’s dreams for eons. It is a frigid, bitterly cold planet, but hopes have collided with reality. It happened on this date, May 25th, 2008.
Man has always sought to know more. It is this wanting to know, that has pushed him to the further regions of capability. It is this urgent need to find out what is on the other side. In the unknown, beyond the reaches of mans existence, what is there. It is this desire that has pushed movie makers, writers, and even scientists to solve the riddle. It is this riddle that is always at the forefront of men’s minds. Thus on August 3rd, 2007 the journey began. A mission failed as it were, out of the dust of this came a rebirth. Reborn they say, out of fire. The bird of ancient mythology arising out of previous endeavors arrived at its destination on May 25th 2008. With the touchdown of the Phoenix Mars mission Lander, the hopes of men will be met in a full frontal attack of this Mars landscape with all its opposition.

Mars Landscape

The Mars landscape

Like the Phoenix bird of ancient mythology, the Phoenix Mars Mission is reborn out of fire; this new mission was created from the embers of previous Mars endeavors. Phoenix will use many components of two unsuccessful Mars missions, MPL and MSP ‘01. Using lessons learned and an extensive testing program, scientists and engineers are confident that Phoenix will rise from the ashes revealing clues in the martian arctic soils about the history of water and potential for biology.http://phoenix.lpl.arizona.edu/pdf/fact_sheet.pdf

One of the primary motivations for exploring our solar system is to answer the question, Are we alone? Another motivation Is there life on other planets? With these questions is the one that pertains to Mars. Was there life on ancient Mars? Is there life on Mars now? It is this seeking, which mans seems to be good at, which motivates people to know more. These questions are being asked more and more today in the light of the many UFO sightings and related alien phenomenon. Yet, man has a tendency to deny the existence of God, while looking to the universe as a self expanding and creative model capable of keeping itself in order. The thought of how it all began has caused man to deny the one ‘creative God in Genesis’ who brought all we know into existence. Yet the hope of those who brought the Phoenix mars mission to this stage are hoping to find out the questions that has plagued man from the beginning, these questions “are we alone” and the second question being “why are we here”? Both these are the true questions behind all others that men may ask. Even though many bible believers can read the scriptures and find these answers in its pages, for many, including others who see the bible as mere fiction, the answers are yet to be fully solved.

heavens reveal the Lord

The Heavens declare the glory of the Lord

2 Timothy 3:7  Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Psalms 19:1  ¶<> The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
Psalms 57:5  Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.
Psalms 57:11  Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.
Psalms 97:6  The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.
Psalms 108:5  Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth;
Psalms 113:4  The LORD is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.
Habakkuk 3:3  ¶God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.

Tower of Babel

Mans fascination with Mars has been recorded over the historical sphere since man has walked this earth. Now with mans ability to succeed in putting a step forward, the planet is no longer a mystery. Just like the Tower of Babel, who built up a monument to reach the heavens, today, man has reached the heavens. With this ability, man has found out how big God is. For beyond the reaches of earth lays the moon, then mars, and other planets. The stars and beyond all is more galaxies. Is there no end? Not that man can see anyway. Yet, the hope is and has been that we will find that this little speck of dust we call earth, is home to humans. We have yet to find other life as we are, carbon based life forms.
In all this searching man is certain to come upon another form of life. One that will bring him full circle to what he wants. What is life about? Where is life headed? What about all the planets, the stars, and the galaxies, where are life forms with which we can interact. The movies today have all, including the television, brought us full circle. On each of these forms of entertainment we are currently finding other life, as with us, who live and find other life forms on other planets. In the movies, the reality is that “there is life on other planets.” In the movies, the reality is that “Aliens, other life forms” are in contact with us. In the movies, there is no doubt, this other life exists.
As we view the successes of men on Mars today, let us consider this. All this is a prelude to a greater knowledge. That is, ‘other life’ will be presented to us in all its delusion, these so called other forms of life, the Vatican has already confirmed as saying, ‘it’s okay to believe in Aliens.” All this sets the stage for the full release of the Alien agenda currently being foisted upon the world. With this Alien agenda will come the delusion of the ‘higher masters’, the ‘alien gospel’, and the ultimate ‘next level of mans evolution’. The people, the nation, and the world are currently being prepared for this next level and believe it or not, the current success of the Mars Phoenix program lays out the beginning of this coming delusion.

2 Thessalonians 2:11  And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12  That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Is there Life on other Planets?
It is possible that life on other planets could be very different from what we are accustomed to on Earth. But in order to look for life in the universe, or even in our own Solar System, researchers must have a set of criteria by which to define what life is. Based on our current level of understanding, the best approach is to look for characteristics or traits that are common among many different living organisms. [phoenix.lpl.arizona.edu/mars143.php]
Are we Alone?
Since the telescope was first invented in 1608, technological advances have made it possible for us to look at other planets in our solar system, and even far beyond to other galaxies. One of the primary motivations for exploring our solar system is to answer the question, “Are we alone?”. [phoenix.lpl.arizona.edu/mars143.php]

Life on Mars now?
The recent discovery that ancient Mars probably had liquid water on its surface means that the conditions for life probably existed at some time in Martian history. But what about the present? Could there be life on Mars now?

Here is the official release of this event!
NASA””s Phoenix Spacecraft Lands At Martian Arctic Site
Press Release
May 25, 2008 — NASA””s Phoenix spacecraft landed in the northern polar region of Mars today to begin three months of examining a site chosen for its likelihood of having frozen water within reach of the lander””s robotic arm.

Radio signals received at 4:53:44 p.m. Pacific Time (7:53:44 p.m. Eastern Time) confirmed the Phoenix Mars Lander had survived its difficult final descent and touchdown 15 minutes earlier. The signals took that long to travel from Mars to Earth at the speed of light.

Mission team members at NASA””s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif.; Lockheed Martin Space Systems, Denver; and the University of Arizona, Tucson, cheered confirmation of the landing and eagerly awaited further information from Phoenix later tonight.

Among those in the JPL control room was NASA Administrator Michael Griffin, who noted this was the first successful Mars landing without airbags since Viking 2 in 1976.

“For the first time in 32 years, and only the third time in history, a JPL team has carried out a soft landing on Mars,” Griffin said. “I couldn””t be happier to be here to witness this incredible achievement.”

During its 422-million-mile flight from Earth to Mars after launching on Aug. 4, 2007, Phoenix relied on electricity from solar panels during the spacecraft””s cruise stage. The cruise stage was jettisoned seven minutes before the lander, encased in a protective shell, entered the Martian atmosphere. Batteries provide electricity until the lander””s own pair of solar arrays spread open.

“We””ve passed the hardest part and we””re breathing again, but we still need to see that Phoenix has opened its solar arrays and begun generating power,” said JPL””s Barry Goldstein, the Phoenix project manager. If all goes well, engineers will learn the status of the solar arrays between 7 and 7:30 p.m. Pacific Time (10 and 10:30 p.m. Eastern Time) from a Phoenix transmission relayed via NASA””s Mars Odyssey orbiter.

The team will also be watching for the Sunday night transmission to confirm that masts for the stereo camera and the weather station have swung to their vertical positions.

“What a thrilling landing! But the team is waiting impatiently for the next set of signals that will verify a healthy spacecraft,” said Peter Smith of the University of Arizona, principal investigator for the Phoenix mission. “I can hardly contain my enthusiasm. The first landed images of the Martian polar terrain will set the stage for our mission.”

Another critical deployment will be the first use of the 7.7-foot-long robotic arm on Phoenix, which will not be attempted for at least two days. Researchers will use the arm during future weeks to get samples of soil and ice into laboratory instruments on the lander deck.

The signal confirming that Phoenix had survived touchdown was relayed via Mars Odyssey and received on Earth at the Goldstone, Calif., antenna station of NASA””s Deep Space Network.

Phoenix uses hardware from a spacecraft built for a 2001 launch that was canceled in response to the loss of a similar Mars spacecraft during a 1999 landing attempt. Researchers who proposed the Phoenix mission in 2002 saw the unused spacecraft as a resource for pursuing a new science opportunity. Earlier in 2002, Mars Odyssey discovered that plentiful water ice lies just beneath the surface throughout much of high-latitude Mars. NASA chose the Phoenix proposal over 24 other proposals to become the first endeavor in the Mars Scout program of competitively selected missions.

In your Patience ‘Possess’ ye your souls

In your Patience ‘Possess’ ye your souls

babylon

In the course of human events there stands one, in his providence, the judge of us all. It is then, we as a people, a nation, and on course to fulfill history, will see with an eye that thing which will come to pass. From this the concourse of the Americas, the people who gave their concise admonition unto the LORD God, had seen a divine vision, fulfilling that vision the land came into being one nation. This then fulfilled the dreams of the many that came. Yet without prejudice the people moved through history and received of that divine providence the benefits of a merciful creator.

It is with a great grief of heart that that nation has been decreed to destruction by the Almighty. With vision of portent the people who live in this great land will experience great grief. Thus, in the agony, the judgment and warning of the Almighty God, who in his justice will give unto the peoples that which they have so long labored for. Thus unto the wicked will be given the fruits thereof and the reward given will be death. Then unto the righteous will be given the fruits thereof and the reward given will be life. For the Lord God, giveth to all men readily as they have labored thereunto. He is no respecter of persons.

For the Wages of sin, “the Lord will repay”. Thus there are those who are the Lords, he will save them “with the right hand of his righteousness.” Again, the Lord is no respecter of persons. It is given then, this ‘Vault of Death’, being the America, which was stabilized and brought into birth so long ago, has been given the decree.

“for those who refuse to repent, both Jew and Gentile, Male and Female, in the church, and those outside of the church, i.e. ‘those who do wickedly’, ‘the children of disobedience’, the Lords wrath abides on them. For those, then, America will become the ‘Vault of Death’; there will be no escape, except in the LORD God and his only begotten Son Jesus Christ.”

“and unto the nations, the Lord will bring the judgment around to their doorsteps. Their laughter will be turned to mourning, their joy to bitterness, as the LORD God will be exalted and the pride of men will be brought low.”

For the times and seasons of men and nations, the LORD God controls. He is the governor of the nations. He is exalted in the heavens. He alone is the one to whom all knees shall bow and all tongues confess. In the times of ‘fear, turmoil, turbulence, uncertainty, wars, disorders, natural disasters, bloodshed, and godlessness’ shall the snare be laid. It is upon the nations, behold as the Lord has brought ‘fear, pit, and the snare’, he shall also give life unto those who repent and seek his face. For the LORD is full of mercy and grace, he giveth such to those who seek his face early.

For in such times, men will face deceptions, deceivers, false prophets, false Christ’s, false gospels, false spirits, such as men has never seen before. Their hearts full of these will fail them for the things that have come upon the earth. For all things shall be shaken, the earth, below the earth, and above the earth. The heavens are the LORDS, and the earth is his footstool. Behold, all ye who dwell upon the earth and look to the Eternal for thy salvation.

Amidst this, those who are called by my name, upon whom is my spirit, and in whom is my word, they shall be saved. But unto these shall be given that which has been dealt unto all thy brethren in the world. For the world hateth thee and all which you represent. The evil one even now is making war against you, but behold, in my name shall you conquer. You have already overcome by the ‘blood of the lamb’, and shall beat down the oppressor by the ‘word of your testimony’, and will come into the victorious glory by ‘loving your lives not unto the death.’ For this is the time written afore of shaking, tribulation, wars, and natural disasters. It is a time of hatred, violence, betrayal, persecution, and even death. Blood shall be upon blood, and those who shed such shall be rewarded. For it is the ‘days of vengeance’ written about. It is the ‘snare’ which was to come upon all the earth. For Lord speaketh from the heavens, yet, the world shakes as his word goes forth.

Exodus 19:18  And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

Acts 2:19  And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

Isaiah 13:13  Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

Hebrews 12:26  Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

For the Lord has said to us in Luke 21:19, “In your patience possess ye your souls.” For those who see these things, let it be said that we must have patience, that is:

Strongs patience #5281-perserverance, endurance, patient waiting. This is from a related word meaning #5259-as in status or authority and also from #3306-remain, live, dwell, to be in a state that begins and continues, as in ‘to abide in Christ’.

In our patient waiting, as we observe and live during these times, endurance must be ours, perseverance must be obtained, that is by means of remaining, dwelling, and living in a state of ‘abiding in Christ’ and no other, for we do not arm ourselves with the flesh, or have confidence in the flesh or this world. Our confidence, hope, and eternal reward is Christ Jesus, the hope of Glory, the only begotten son of God.

In doing this then, our patience, which we will preserver in, endure in, and obtain our conversation in Christ, will allow us to gain or Possess:

Strongs possess #2932-to get, gain, to control, provide, and possess. This is related to Strongs 2933, wealth and possession.

Our patience then will allow us to get gain, which is to control, and possess our souls or psuche. Psuche, meaning our seat of affections, will, desire, emotions, mind, reason, and understanding. This gaining is to control, take possession of that area that many lose. The seat of affections, which during these times of turmoil, fear shall come upon men, their hearts failing them. For those who are moving in ‘patience’, enduring, and abiding in Christ, getting control of and gaining their own emotions, will, reason, and understanding. Thus finding the purpose of God will be theirs. Revelation of Gods purpose, his love for you, filled with his peace, and walking in a true relationship with him, will be your gain or possession. In doing this, patience possessing your souls, you will gain your spirit, eternal life, and find true safety in the LORD God Eternal.

You will not be walking in fear as many others. Knowing the times and the seasons, understanding the Lord and not fearful of his wrath. It will be then that you will understand that you will not see the ‘wrath of God.’ For you ‘abide in the LORD God, his only begotten son Jesus Christ.

For many shall find that their nation, leaders, armies, silver, gold, supplies, nor any other arm of the flesh shall deliver them on that day.

Ezekiel 7:19  They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

But those who have understood, accepted, and sought the LORD, repenting of their wickedness shall find salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 5:9  For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

For the many will not understand, they will not see clearly, nor hear. But the righteous shall understand, hear, and find the salvation of our LORD and our God.

Revelation 18:4  And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5  For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
6  Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
7  How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
8  Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

The LORD God has clearly commanded all men, all people, everywhere to Repent! It is this time and season. Repent of your sin; turn to the LORD God and his only begotten Son Jesus Christ, believing on Him. Turn from your ways, amend them, and follow righteousness, without which, no man shall see the LORD.

Acts 17:30  And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

This E-Book is just a beginning. You should read it, study it, and then study more about the subject. This short E-Book cannot cover all the aspects of the broad topic.

Excerpt from Free E-Book:
For the believer today, there is much trouble coming. In Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21, and in Revelation we see the vast warnings, prophecies, and end of the age descriptions we have been given. But none is so stark as the warning of the Lord himself. At the very beginning of the discourses he plainly says to “take heed.” The heeding was to the deception of the end times.

The specific time we are living in is the ‘end times’ described in the above verses. Men and women today are caught up living their lives, paying bills, going to church, raising kids, and for the most part, believing all will be as it always has. The church and even American itself, along with many other nations, are in a ‘plausible deniability’ scenario. This means that, especially for Americans, we denial anything like the bible scenario above could happen. They simply don’t believe America could or would ever fall. They raise their kids, watch their grandkids grow, and believe that all is well, that nothing will befall America. After all, God watches over the nation they live in. The truth is, nothing could be further from the truth. It is that truth, the denial of many, which will in fact lead many to false hoods and error. The time is ripe for such false Christ, false Prophets, and teachers to arise. These have already arisen out of the 60’s and today have ministries that are huge. There are others comings, false ones, erroneous light bearers who will bring deception upon people. Americans are especially open to this. For this nation and its people, who have had so much, thinking about sin and sinful ways are not the in thing to do. Many Americans do not realize that their deeds of the flesh and nation will bring the wrath of God upon them, indeed for many it is nothing to even get upset over. For them, America will stand as a Lady forever. For the land was made great by the forefathers, laborers, Americans, and those in this great land. It was not by the hand of God, but the Lord says to us ‘Thy pride, which we have a lot of, goeth before destruction.’

-Proverbs 16:18  ¶Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
-Ezekiel 16:49  Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
-Obadiah 1:3  The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

The Decree has Been Given

The Decree has Been Given
‘The Day of The LORD’
By the Watchman Dana G Smith
Keywords: Day Lord, decree, nations, repent, Eternal One

1 Thessalonians 5:7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

time of the night upon America

Sadness, Sadness…
In the Isles of Men,
Upon the land destruction.
The Day appointed has arrived.
Souls are lost,
Nations brought low
Waves of destroying power unleashed.

Isaiah 13:11  And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
12  I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.
13  Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

Where is Hope today,
Lying in the rubble, death finds one.
Then another, and another,
Who can bring help?
Where does my salvation lay?
Screams, anguish, and terror,
In the Isles of men.

Revelation 6:13  And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
14  And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
15  And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16  And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17  For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Be warned O men..
Alert the nations.
For the Night bring horror.
The watchmen must call out…
Awaken you who sleep.
For the night is dangerous,
The enemy cometh.

Psalms 82:5  They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
6  ¶I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
7  But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.
8  Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

How can I tell you?
Will you ever listen?
It is not over, not yet!
For the Lord has decreed a decree.
His Word has gone forth.
The nations will sway…
The Earth will be moved…
The Seas angry in their turmoil…
The Sky moving in darkness turns red…
The Day of the Lord is upon the nations.

Joel 2:1  ¶Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;
Joel 3:14  Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.
Amos 5:18  Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.

Where is my hope?
To whom shall I turn now?
For the Gods have turned us all away!
The Spirits have deceived us…
We are awash in Death…
There is no hope.

Zephaniah 1:14  ¶The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
Zephaniah 2:2  Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD”S anger come upon you.
Zephaniah 2:3  Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD”S anger.

Men killeth men…
The oxen are slain,
There is no crop…
The harvest is destroyed.
Curses upon the lip,
Hopelessness of soul,
The world is laid bare,
Yet, another calamity comes.

Zephaniah 3:8  ¶Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.

Thus Saith the Eternal,
‘Can you refuse me, Oh man?’
Turn now, and move to stop the hand of the Lord.
For the nations, it has been decreed, shall be shaken.
For Earth, it has been decreed, will be moved.
The souls of men, it has been decreed, will be stirred.
The plight of the people will be brought low,
For the flesh is as Grass,
Life as a vapor,
Yes, it perishes.

1 Peter 1:24  ¶For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25  But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

‘Seek me and live’, saith the LORD.
Turn, and Repent of thy wickedness,
Refrain from evil,
Seek the Eternal God,
The Holy One.
There is no other,
For upon the nations…
My decree has come…
This is the Day of the LORD.

Isaiah 43:10  Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
11  I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.
12  I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.

Revelation 21:24  And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
25  And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
26  And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.
27  And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb”s book of life.

The Illinois Babylon Agenda over Hate Crime

Illinois Teen Faces Three Years Jail Sentence for Potentially Fraudulent ‘Hate Crime’

slew foot behind babylon agenda and hate crimes legislation

By Peter LaBarbera

CHAMPAIGN-URBANA, Illinois – Two young men – one homosexual, one heterosexual – tell very different stories about an argument that occurred late on a Friday night (April 11) in this college town, but only one – the straight student-athlete – faces a felony “hate crime” conviction with a maximum penalty of up to three years in prison.

Brett VanAsdlen faces a Class 4 felony hate crime after originally being charged with aggravated battery following an incident in which he pushed 20-year-old homosexual University of Illinois student Steven Velasquez to the ground. The critical question is: why did he push Velasquez and who was aggressor? VanAsdlen’s family says it was Velasquez who – after Brett made a comment about Velasquez and his homosexual partner – first “got in Brett’s face,” to which Brett responded by pushing Velasquez away. Velasquez claims that Brett attacked him unprovoked because of his homosexuality.
You can read and watch WCIA-TV’s initial, one-sided account of the incident featuring an interview with Velasquez HERE – which set the tone for those seeking to portray VanAsdlen as a violent hate criminal.

Obviously, it is difficult ascertain the facts about this case because we lack direct access to the principals. AFTAH has not able to acquire a police report of the incident, but we have learned the aggravated battery charge has been dropped. Velasquez is getting his version of events out in the sympathetic media, and it is being trumpeted as a vicious “hate crime” by various homosexual and leftist websites including Daily Kos, but Brett’s side of the story is not getting out. We did speak with Brett’s mother, as did pro-family advocate Ted Pike, who first alerted the nation to the story through his National Prayer Network. Here is an excerpt from Pike’s original account, based on his phone conversation with Rona Lee VanAsdlen (emphasis added):

The police department of Champaign, Illinois is reported to be under pressure from higher authorities to increase its quota of hate crimes convictions. Brett VanAsdlen, an 18 year-old Christian college student on a baseball scholarship, didn’t know this. On April 12 he and a friend saw two homosexuals leaning on each other and holding hands, walking toward them on the sidewalk. “Look at those two guys holding hands,” Brett said to his friend and walked past them. According to Brett’s mother, the next thing he knew, one of the homosexuals (whom he perceived to be drunk) had grabbed him by the shoulder, putting his face up to Brett’s and repeatedly shouting, “What did you say?” Brett told him to go away several times and then pushed him. The homosexual fell over backwards. On his back, the homosexual told his partner to call the police. In eight minutes, four officers arrived. Two interviewed Brett and his friend and assured them there would be no problem. Brett had been physically accosted and detained, clearly an assault. The other two officers interviewed the homosexual, who was taken to the hospital.
Note that we cannot vouch for the accuracy of this account, which of course is coming from a source (Brett’s mother) very sympathetic to the young man now charged with a “hate crime.” It is conceivable to this writer that young VanAsdlen might have made an untoward or derogatory comment about the homosexual couple, sparking the confrontation. But there is no law against speech critical of homosexuality (yet) and if it is true that Velasquez grabbed Brett, then perhaps he was the real aggressor.

Brett’s mother, Rona Lee, confirmed the account above to Americans For Truth, although she did not say what exactly Brett said to the homosexual couple. She did say that Brett did not initiate physical contact with Velasquez but that the homosexual “grabbed” Brett first – and then badgered him about the comment he had made. She said Velasquez was yelling at Brett and “in his face” and that Brett told him twice to get away from him before pushing him away. She and others familiar with the encounter said that Velasquez never lost consciousness.

Rona Lee described her son as a “happy, good natured” kid who “never dreamed that something like this could happen to him.” She said he did not take the arrest as seriously as he should have – especially after police told him it would be no big deal – and that Brett may even have neglected to state in the official police report that Velasquez was the first to make contact – a critical point in the story.
The VanAsdlen family is Christian and attends the nondenominational Minooka Bible Church, in Minooka, Illinois. Rona Lee says her son Brett, her oldest child (he has two brothers and a sister), is a “people person” – a conservative Christian but “not straight-laced” – who is “so naive it’s scary. . he had no idea what was in store for him.”

Rona Lee said she was very thankful that one of Brett’s teammates, Kevin Crane, was with him when the incident occurred, and can serve as a witness to what truly happened that night. She said neither she nor her husband have seen a police report of the incident.

Athletic Director says Brett is no hater

Brett transferred from Purdue University to Parkland College, a junior college in Champaign, after receiving a baseball scholarship and assurances that he would get more playing time than if he had remained at Purdue. After the alleged “hate crime” April 12, Brett was suspended from the baseball team pending the outcome of his court case.

Parkland College Athletic Director Rod Lovett told AFTAH that VanAsdlen’s removal from the team was handled as an “internal matter” for violating the college’s athletic code of conduct. He said Brett will have a right to appeal to be returned to the team following the resolution of the court case, and hoped it will be resolved by this summer so that Brett can train with the team in August. Lovett was skeptical of the trumped-up “hate crime” aspect of the case and said he hopes for a speedy resolution of the matter.

Lovett said he is aware of “both sides of the story” and sympathetic to Brett’s plight. “He didn’t set out to have conflict” that evening, he said. Asked if while on the Parkland baseball team, Brett ever exhibited irrational hatred of the type associated with “hate crimes,” he said no, and that he saw no “ongoing issue” in Brett’s life of “brewing” animosity toward any particular group.

“He’s a typical 18- or 19-year-old kid,” Lovett said, granting that young men that age can an do act immaturely. Lovett said he “wasn’t particularly thrilled” by WCIA’s coverage of the incident, including one story in which an activist accused VanAsdlen of a “brutal attack” against Velasquez.
“Regardless of what it was, it was never a brutal attack,” he said, adding that WCIA is the only TV station in Champaign giving major attention to the story.

I attended yesterday’s brief preliminary hearing, where Brett VanAsdlen – a strapping, clean-cut, All-American looking young man – and his family members learned that his next court appearance (another preliminary hearing) will be July 1, when Brett turns 19. Afterward, Amanda Evans, the WCIA reporter, interviewed Brett VanAsdlen’s attorney, Steve Beckett, who said that this case is about “two kids who ran into each other on the streets,” and that the facts are disputed.

He said, he said

So this is a case of “he said, he said” – but the special treatment of it thus far illustrates why conservatives and traditionalists oppose “hate crimes” laws as fundamentally unfair and open to abuse:
Brett VanAsdlen’s name and reputation are being sullied by the media and “gay” and leftist blogs without regard to any objective record of the incident;

With all the late-night altercations that happen in a college town, why does a young man face a felony conviction because of this one? (If convicted, Brett would be banned from voting for life and his record would be stained permanently; his mother noted that it would hinder his ability to be hired as a teacher or coach, one of his goals);

If it is true that the aggravated battery charge against VanAsdlen was dropped, why are prosecutors continuing to pursue the felony hate-crimes charge against the young man?
Are Champaign police are under pressure to make “hate crimes” arrests?

If it is true that the alleged homosexual victim, Stephen Velasquez, is distorting what happened the night of April 12 to further an agenda – there have been many examples of fake “hate crimes” reported across the country – it is fascinating how much mileage he has gotten from it, all at the expense of Brett VanAsdlen. When you are at the top of a politically correct hierarchy of victims, much injustice can occur whether there is a trial or not to sort it all out.

Selective prosecution

The true danger of hate-crimes laws is selective prosecution and unequal protection under the law. If a homosexual were to push an obnoxious Christian onto the ground, or things got out of control after a verbal spat, would he be facing a felony hate-crime conviction and possible jail time in Champaign, Illinois right now? I think most readers know that answer to that question, and it speaks volumes.
Years ago, pro-family activist Ralph Ovadal, then with Wisconsin Christians United, was hit from behind by a pro-homosexual activist while protesting a homosexual event in Madison, Wisconsin. Ovadal was taken to the hospital with serious injuries from the blind-side assault. Yet Madison, Wisconsin prosecutors did not even secure a misdemeanor conviction against Ovadal’s assailant – because Ralph was the wrong type of victim. If it were the other way around, Ralph would probably still be in jail today.

Now, here in Illinois, we see a case in which a boy has words with a homosexual, who then apparently became so agitated that he got in Brett’s face until the boy pushed him away. (We do not know; they may have shared guilt in causing the conflict.) Now this young man, Brett VanAsdlen, faces a felony conviction and jail time – not to mention that his good name is being destroyed by “gay” activists and the sympathetic media and that he will miss the baseball season after transferring to the team to make the most of his talents.

And Mrs. VanAsdlen worries that legal costs to defend her son may rise to $20,000 or $30,000. AFTAH will be following this case closely. Meanwhile, please pray and take action:

TAKE ACTION: 1) Urge Champaign County, Illinois State’s Attorney Julia Rietz (phone: (217) 384-3733) to drop the government’s one-sided felony “hate crimes” prosecution against 18-year-old student-athlete Brett VanAsdlen – based on the inconsistent and likely exaggerated claims of Stephen Velasquez, a homosexual University of Illinois (U of I) student who may have initiated physical contact with VanAsdlen. Already, Brett is being smeared as violent “gay-basher” by Velasquez and pro-homosexual activists in the media. Pray for Brett and his family.

2) Call or write WCIA-3 TV, the local CBS affiliate, and urge them to be fair in their coverage of this unfortunate story. Call (217) 373-3650 and ask for Producer Nancy Foreman. WCIA reporter Amanda Evans has led the TV coverage of the story, but her reporting appears to heavily favor Velasquez. It is wrong to smear the reputation of young man by airing all the accusations against him without presenting the other side of the story.

60 WAYS TO BLESS ISRAEL AT 60

60 WAYS TO BLESS ISRAEL AT 60
By Joel C. Rosenberg

israel is 60

(Washington, D.C., May 8, 2008) — Israel turns 60 today on the Jewish calendar. The Joshua Fund team salutes the brave men and women whom God brought back to the Holy Land to fulfill the prophecies of Ezekiel 36 & 37 — to rebuild the ancient ruins, make the deserts bloom, create an “exceedingly great army” and forge a homeland to protect and defend the Jewish people from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

We also salute all those Jews, Christians and other “righteous Gentiles” in the U.S. and around the world who have shown unconditional love and unwavering support to Israel in the face of tremendous opposition. Last month The Joshua Fund gathered 2,000 Christian and Jewish leaders at the international convention center in Jerusalem for the inaugural “Epicenter Conference.” We celebrated Israel’s birthday, examined the threats facing her at present from radical Islam, and discussed ways Christians could bless Israel at this critical hour.

Out of that conference came “60 Ways To Bless Israel At 60.” We hope you will be moved to pursue some of these ways in the days and weeks ahead.

1. Help provide brand new backpacks and school supplies for needy Israeli school children. The Joshua Fund has committed $100,000 to this project, working with Jewish and Christian allies in Israel. The backpacks need to be purchased soon and in bulk to get the best prices. They will be distributed in September, when the new school year begins. Would you consider signing up to make a monthly donation to The Joshua Fund of $25, $40 or $60? All donations are tax deductible. For more information on how to make contributions by mail — or by secure on-line credit card transactions — please see below.

2. Stock one bomb shelter in northern Israel with food, water, a first aid kit, other emergency supplies and a secure storage locker. There are currently some 5,500 bomb shelters that need to be urgently stocked with supplies before the next war. The Joshua Fund is currently raising funds to stock 100 as soon as possible. Cost per bomb shelter: $5,500.

3. Provide one ton of food to care for needy families in northern Israel who were hit by 4,000 rockets and missiles during the 2006 war with Hezbollah. These families are still recovering from that war. Many live on less than $500 a month. And food prices are rising in Israel, as they are around the globe. Every month, therefore, The Joshua Fund pays for about 10 tons of food to be purchased by one of our allies in Israel, distributed to the needy in the north, as well as stockpiled for the next war. Cost: $2,500 per ton.

4. Help purchase desperately needed medical equipment such as respirators, ventilators, operating room lamps, mobile x-ray machines and the like for under-funded regional hospitals in Israel. At the request of hospital administrators, The Joshua Fund has adopted the Barzilai Medical Center in the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon to help them raise funds for such equipment. Barzilai is the only hospital and trauma center serving the 500,000 Israelis living near the Gaza border and facing a nearly constant barrage of rockets, missiles and mortars. They are doing heroic work, but they do need our help. Cost: Some of this equipment is very costly, averaging between $20,000 to $80,000 each. A donation of $5,000 would help significantly towards meeting these vital needs.

5. Help provide food baskets to needy families in Jerusalem on Jewish holidays. Working with our local allies, The Joshua Fund recently helped finance the distribution of 680 food baskets to needy Israeli families for Passover.

6. Provide food, blankets, wheelchairs and other assistance to Holocaust victims in Israel, many of whom tragically live at or below the poverty level, even within the Jewish State.

7. Help care for the homeless in Israel.

8. Help finance soup kitchens in Israel.

9. Help care for Sudanese refugees in Israel.

10. Help provide blankets and heaters for the elderly in Israel during the cold winter months, since many do not have — or cannot afford — central heating.
Help finance the purchase of vans for Israeli organizations that distribute humanitarian aid so they can get supplies to the people that need them most in a more efficient manner. The Joshua Fund is involved in all these areas of relief work — caring for Holocaust victims, the homeless, refugees, and others — and we would be honored to get you involved in funding critically important projects such as these.

11. Track daily news coverage of Israel in English through The Jerusalem Post.

12. Track daily news coverage of Israel in English through Ynetnews.com.

13. Track daily news coverage of Israel in English through Haaretz, one of the leading papers in Jerusalem.

14. Track the latest statements and interviews by radical Islamic fanatics — translated into English — at the website of the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

15. Become a faithful prayer partner for Israel and her neighbors. The Joshua Fund is looking for 100,000 partners to sign up for free “Flash Traffic” email alerts that include analysis and commentary on events and trends in Israel and the epicenter, Joshua Fund project updates, and prayer requests. More than 52,000 people from all over the world have joined already. You can join the team by clicking below.

16. Take your family on a tour of Israel.

17. Join us on a future Joshua Fund “Prayer & Vision Trip” to Israel.

18. Take Hebrew classes for the summer at your local Jewish Community Center.

19. Make friends with a local Rabbi, find ways to bless the synagogue he runs, and discuss ways to bless Israel together.

20. Learn more about the Israeli economy and business opportunities through the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce.
