1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

This time of the year the morning sky is usually clear, the stars are out, and on a full moon the landscape is readily seen. The time is four thirty in the morning; I have been up for about an hour now. Usually that is, however, some mornings the Lord wakes me up early, real early. Those times are spent in quiet with Him pertaining to what the early morning wake up call is about. Sometimes intercession, other times quiet listening as I write what I believe the Holy Spirit gives me.

This like other weekday mornings the wife and I are off for our workout. We begin our workout at five am, opening the doors to the place along with a number of other stalwart people. In the spring and summer the mornings are cool and the air usually clean, that is except for a forest fire or fire on the desert and brush. When that happens you can smell it, as fires from Colorado, Montana, and even Canada can make it here, all depends on the jet stream. In the winter dark thirty as I call it comes early in the evening around five and is really dark at three thirty in the morning. The sun won’t raise till around seven thirty or eight. That is when the early time is hard, in the winter. It can be cold, brutal, and makes for a hard go on a daily basis. But we have been doing it for years now. It is part of our life.

This morning I am continuing a little workout after the wife has gone to shower and ready for work. Since I don’t have so much to do in that regards, I shower and dress in five minutes. As I work a machine for the stomach abs and sides I watch the others around me do their exercise. My wife and I are part of that generation that came to birth after WWII. This was the largest generation called the ‘baby boomers.’ Right after war all those GI’s came home to their wives and girlfriends. Marriage, the war just won and the new housing boom that would entail created a perfect climate for having babies. The generation that fought that war did have babies and lots of them. Now today that generation which saw the Korean war, Vietnam war, the middle east wars with Iraq, along with the turbulent protesting 60’s, the swinging 70’s, the abundant 80’s and 90’s is getting older. Women now either at my age or within some 10 years is all around me as are guys, every one of them fighting the same battle, which is age. The women are trying to get back that svelte figure they had in high school, while the guys are trying to lose that middle bulge, side pockets, and look as those they are 16 again. Still others are working out who have never seen the battle of the bulge, leastwise they look it. These are the ones who have little percentage of body fat, and higher muscle tone. Men and Women, every one of them, though, are heading to the destiny we call old age.

I think of the Apostle Paul’s words, saying that “if in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” This statement reflects the eternal nature of the hope we have in Christ. While many live for today, we do not necessarily do that. We enjoy the day, live it for Christ, but our hope is in Christ, his kingdom, and the hope of redemption for all eternity. Today America is centered in on the things we see, feel, touch, taste, think, and do. This is can be summed up by Johns words, “the lust of the flesh, the pride of life, and the lust of the eyes.” It can be seen displayed in magazines, newspapers, on television, in our video’s and everything else we do. To test this take a magazine and remove every ad that has something to do with food, clothes, and entertainment etc. See what you have left. For the believer today living among a nation of people that are increasingly the master of ‘hedonism’ is a tough call. Paul told us that these would be ‘perilous times.’ The LORD said that ‘because iniquity would abound, the love of many would wax cold.’ Further, Jesus asked the question, “When the Son of Man comes again, will he find faith on the earth?”

1 Corinthians 15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

20 ¶But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

1 Corinthians 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.

24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.

28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

As this generation deals with its own mortality, will they wake up to the true things of God? That is a question which will be answered individually. For my wife and I, our lives are centered around the LORD, his guidance, his call on our lives, and what we are to do as Salt and light. For others, their lives are centered on retirement, living an old age in ease with the grandkids. Traveling, good food, bills all paid, living debt free, and being healthy are just some of the things that affect most people looking to the senior years or even mid life. It is the mid life crisis that many find out life is truly short. When you begin working out as we have done, you see many who are trying to fight one aspect of that age problem. That is as you grow older your body starts to wean off high caloric needs. The way you use to eat as a teen is not the way you eat now. The way you use to burn calories are not remotely close to what you burn at this age. When the bible talks about ‘live as a vapor’, I can see that clearly. Others see it too, but from lens of secular ideas and ways. I see it as the beginning of an eternal relationship, one which was finalized in the Work of Christ. This means not just redemption, but a complete new body, new life, new work in Christ, completed. This is a hope and one which was and in Christ. Where the created are redeemed and re-united with the creator God. This is the hope, the completion of salvation, freedom from sin, forgiven, no more accusations against us, and we shall live in that new World and age set aside for the ‘children of the MOST HIGH God.’ It is a time when those redeemed in Christ, who are the ‘sons of God’ will see him, meaning Christ who will come again. We they do, they shall be transformed to be like him, for they shall see him as he is. This is the earnest expectation of the creature, the creation, all that is in it, looks and waits for this manifestation of the ‘sons of God.’ This will mean on Gods timetable, the promises of the Father to make everything new is here, and the curse of sin and death will be gone forever.

1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

Romans 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

One thing you notice as you grow older, that is the number of middle age, seniors, and others who increasingly look in the obit’s. They do so, laughingly saying “I have to look and see if I am in the Obituaries or not.” The truth is, many do so watching for those they know who have died. It is always sad to see young people in this section. Of a truth, life is short, today is the day of salvation. This is the day to seek the LORD. For he will accept your repentance and sorrow for sin if you are true to heart and bear you soul to him. He knows how serious you are and if you will honestly walk before him in love and truth, following his ways and teachings. Too many today follow mans ideas, mans religious nature and tendencies. Religion, denominations, fellowship, rights of men, and mans righteousness will not get you into the God of heavens promise. There is only one way. Yeshua [Jesus] told the Jews, Pharisees, and Sadducees of his day the one thing that would save them. He was talking to a group who knew religious ways well. They had many laws, commandments, and knew the traditions that were handed down to them. All this though, was done by them out of duty and not heart felt. We also need to take note today and be warned. For The same God who judged the Jews in Israel of old, casting them out for their sins and abominations is the same God who watches America and is sending judgment, calling on men to repent of their sins. Jesus said to the Jews of his day:

John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe [trust in, rely on, cling to] not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

John 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe [trust in, rely on, cling to] on him whom he hath sent.

Today as I worked out I remembered the LORD who came and died for me and all men and women. I prepare today for WAR, a WAR not to do battle with guns or kill, but a spiritual physical war. This is a war where the believer in America will have to stand up for the LORD. The battle lines were drawn at Calvary and now that battle has come full scope to America. God’s judgments upon America will increase more and more, so that in this land all will be affected. God is calling all his children to follow him. They will have to ‘walk by faith’, standing ‘having done all to stand, they must stand’, for they are called to be Salt and Light in this perverse generation. So we prepare ourselves daily both physically and spiritually. The battle is here and will increase in scope until it brings in the ‘son of perdition’. He will rule the world, setting himself up as God in the temple of God. He will make war with the saints and overcome them. Many will lose their lives, but will stand in Glory with the LORD, ‘Having washed their robes white in the blood of the lamb.’

So my friends as I get up each morning, I look at the sky. I can see the LORD looking back at me from his throne, as he smiles; he sends the suns rays gently upon me as I feel his presence touching my soul and heart. As he does this, I say to him, “thank you Lord for this day.” I genuinely thank the LORD God for his touch, his blessings, for his creation, and all he has done not only for me, but for all men. For out of his providential nature and love, he gives grace and mercy to men. It is that grace which gave the mercy to us so we could repent and seek his face. Being forever joined in Christ, let us therefore walk in him in this wicked generation, for we are his light and the salt of the earth. So even though we may see through a glass darkly, not able to fully know all the things God has prepared those who love him, yet we see enough to know that whatever he does will be good. Just as in the beginning of creation when he made it all and ‘behold it was very good’, so too will be the kingdom to come, ‘behold it will be very good.’

Matthew 5:13 ¶Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Matthew 5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Genesis 1:31 ¶And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
