Personal Triumph in God

Personal Triumph in God
A Psalm
By the Watchman Dana G Smith

somewhere out there
I have hoped in the Lord, therefore I shall be greatly helped.
I have trusted also in the Lord, there I shall not be ashamed.
I have sought his way with all my strength, therefore God will make firm my righteousness.
I have walked according to the wisdom of truth in his Word, therefore I am a solid foundation,
filled with his Spirit, a firm bulwark for his Word, walking in his firmly placed righteous cause.

I rejoice in his greatness, praising him for his creations, for by his mighty hand, he hath done in me great and might things.
Not in my alone, but in all those who trust in Christ Jesus.
Great is my Jehovah, my Savior,
Jesus Christ, for great is his faithfulness which is spread abroad over me like eagles wings.
I sing this song to my King of Glory!

I rest in his excellent peace.
I praise the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
The Lord has blessed me.
I ride on the wings of his Spirit, maintaining my agreement with his Word.
Continue to guide me O Lord according to thy Word.
Maintain and cause me to arrive at my appointed time,
To work for thee O Lord.
To bring your love O Lord,
To the hungry, thirsty, naked, and famished.
May I see your face in the multitudes.
May I feel your compassion for those innocent ones.
May I be overcome with your love.
Your pureness O God, love flowing through me to others.
To Heal, guide the way,
Instruct, correct, and love those around me.
That they might find your complete Love and Mercy In Jesus Name.

The Sinking Ship!

The Sinking Ship!
A Psalm
By the Watchman Dana G Smith

psalm 115
I see a battle upon the sea,
Tis a great battle for the ship, many cling to its railings!
Battle weary veterans, stubbornly pray to their God,
“Victory is ours tonight, let not this ship sink in its mire. Though the stains of sin be great, lift us up higher. Father, those that sin, forgive them all through it all.”

In this battle weary, the enemy approaches closer still.
Its venom of filth, spews forth from the dragons lips.
It is mine saith the false one who boasteth of evil!

In the rooms below deck, prayeth the children of God:
“Touch not the saints, those who trust in the living God. You can have this old ship saith they who pray.”

For this the children of God have spoken, “the ship is broken, giving way”

The venom hath pierced and weakened it more,
Heart of hearts, fast she sinks, taking with her all aboard.
But saith the Children of the MOST High:
“Save those that trust in your name O Lord. Let he not take them down to the depths below.”

Then a voice, echoes over eternities expanse, a thousand thunders speaking, in an instant, a moment, a flash:
“Wait, saith the Amen, the first and the last, save mine children, those who are washed in my blood, come up yonder, ere ye perish, these my little ones, so sweet. There you will worship at your saviors feet, gloriously saved, redeemed up yonder, from a sinking ship that is no longer.”

The end, The sinking ship

Blessed are those Who Believe

Comforted

A psalm by the Watchman Dana Smith

Behold, I layeth down.
Comforted of my beloved;
Beloved, yet comforted.
Quiet in thee,
Peace residing,
Yet all around me lieth darkness.
Unrest calls to me,
I do not answer,
For the LORD is my strength.
You Truly are my Light and Hope,
O LORD, forever.

Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Those who believe but have not seen!

John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

We have all heard of doubting Thomas’! Those people that no matter what you say about something, will not believe it unless they see it. Ever hear of the ‘show me state?’ The phrase “show me state” has some origins that are not clear as to where it came from. Some attribute the saying to a 1899 speech by Congressman Willard Vandiver, others to Missouri laborers brought to Colorado to quell a miners strike and required frequent instruction. No matter where it came from, it rings true today that ‘Missouri’ is the ‘show me state’. As well Thomas was a ‘show me’ follower of the LORD Jesus. He would not believe by mere words, he would need to see personally. In America, this is very true, as a result, many are unbelievers and narrow minded. These also are people who do not see the Word of God in any special light.

John 16:27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
28 ¶I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

In Jesus’ day, the Jews did not believe either. He was constantly up against the religious establishment of the day. These Jews knew the original Hebrew, and studied the Tanache and Torah, however, they had added many of their own interpretations to scripture. By the time Jesus came, they had made the word of God of none effect by their traditions and diatribes of men. But Jesus did pointedly tell them that “for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.”

John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

Moreover, we know from scripture that the Jews saw him as the son of Joseph. They knew he did not come down from heaven, or so they thought! They could not physically wrap their brains around the fact that this Messiah was in fact the very, only begotten Son of the True and Living God. The same God Abraham knew and served. He was the God of Isaac and Jacob. The understanding they needed, however, could and would only come from the Spirit of God. These had hardened, however, their hearts both to the messenger and his message! These did not receive the ‘love of the truth’.

John 6:42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?
This is Life Eternal!
John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

But the Lord did have those who believed. His church was established with its first board members known as the Apostles with the believers who also walked in faith in the Son of God. These would be Sanctified through Truth. After all, Jesus did say in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the Life.” These accepted and believed. Jesus in fact, being received of these who believed, ‘gave power to them to become the sons of God’ according to John 1:12.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

It is here that in John 17:17 we see that these were sanctified through thy truth, a truth that is from Gods Word. Jesus was the Word as we see in John 1, he walked and lived, breathed and manifested the True and Living Gods Word in Himself. Those who received him, believed him were then sanctified by this truth. This sanctification, or as we see this word sanctified in John 17 is hagiadzo, meaning to: “hallow, set apart, dedicate, consecrate, separate, sanctify, make holy.” This as a state of holiness is opposite of common or unclean. It means or describes a manifestation of life produced by the indwelling Holy Spirit. [source, strong's, Greek, 'sanctify']

Sanctified through Truth, thy Word is Truth!

John 17:17 ¶Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Now as we see this process, let us further understand that in the other Lords prayer, which is in John 17 we find our Lord praying to the Father. Chapters 15 through 17 of John are very important in our relationship to Christ and in Chapter 17 we find him praying for us. Literally saying “neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word”. Jesus looked ahead to those who would believe on him through the Words, messages, and testimony of the Apostles and early believers.

Given unto to us, who have believed on the LORD Jesus through their word:

John 17:20 ¶Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

These early believers literally loved the LORD. They literally and very truly believed he came out from God. Even more so, they believed he came from the Father, Yahweh, the Most HIGH, the God of Abraham-Isaac-Jacob, and did not waver from this belief. They knew he fulfilled the prophecies of the Prophets and He was in fact, Y’shua Ha Massiach, the true Son of God, the only begotten, full of grace and truth. They believed he would bring in God’s kingdom, they just did not understand when!

What did they believe?

John 16:27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
28 ¶I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

This belief united the early believers. They were in Christ, who was in the Father. The glory which the Father gave Christ, Christ had given to those that believed on him. It was a union, Christ in them, the Father in Christ, thus unity and oneness. Through this union, they and all who believed would be made perfect in this union through Christ, a union that would bring the world to know that the Father had sent Christ and the Father loves those who are in Christ. It was a promise through Gods Word given to the prophets, fulfilled by Jesus [Y'shua] and manifested to the world by him. It was and is a promise to all generations that would follow and also believe on Jesus through the Words, message, and testimony of the Apostles and all those who have gone before us. The generations before us have all given their testimony of who Christ is. It is our turn my friends. What is your testimony of Christ? What does your faith say and do about Christ?

John 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

As we turn to face some of the most harsh difficulties coming against the nations of men, we, those who have believed, accepting the testimony of the Word of God and the Apostles, need to ‘live by faith.’ It is the time, in which, we are ‘crucified’ with Christ, yet we go on living. But as we do so, it is Christ who is living in us and through us. We live with this unity of the Christ of Calvary who was sent by the Father so that we may live this life in flesh for Jesus Christ, by the faith of the Son of God. For it was he, who died for us and gave himself for us. It was the “love of the truth manifested” for all time. The Fathers love to us, through his Son, whose own love both for the Father and those who were lost propelled him to the cross. For this is love, that a man lay down his life for his friends. This is greater love than the world could possibly understand.

Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

It is this same Love in us, which propels us to walk in Love for the Father and the Son and for each other. It is a Love that pushes us to walk in truth and holiness, without which no man shall see the LORD. It is a Love that enables us through the Holy Spirit to put off the deeds of the flesh and walk in the Spirit. Simply put, because of Christ, we have overcome.

1 John 2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
18 ¶Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

In conclusion my friends, tighten your spiritual seat belts. The ride may be bumpy, bt we have overcome the world. Through faith in Christ, his blood, the word of our testimony, and loving our lives not unto the death, we will overcome! We are those who keep the testimony of Jesus Christ, and walk in his Faith, keeping his commandments to do as he has said.

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
1 John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

More US Oil – Is it a surprise?

Editors note: This was sent to us by Pat Holliday, we have included it here for your FYI. The source and ref is from her.

More US Oil – Is it a surprise?

The U.S. Geological Service issued a report in April (’08) that only scientists and oilmen knew was coming, but man was it big. It was a revised report (hadn’t been updated since ’95) on how much oil was in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota ; western South Dakota ; and extreme eastern Montana … check THIS out:

The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska ‘s Prudhoe Bay , and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503 billion barrels. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable… at $107 a barrel, we’re looking at a resource base worth more than $5.3 trillion.

1.’When I first briefed legislators on this, you could practically see their jaws hit the floor. They had no idea.’ says Terry Johnson, the Montana Legislature’s financial analyst.

‘This sizable find is now the highest-producing onshore oil field found in the past 56 years,’ reports The Pittsburgh Post Gazette. It’s a formation known as the Williston Basin , but is more commonly referred to as the ‘Bakken.’ And it stretches from Northern Montana , through North Dakota and into Canada . For years, U.S.oil exploration has been considered a dead end. Even the ‘Big Oil’ companies gave up searching for major oil wells decades ago. However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up the Bakken’s massive reserves… and we now have access of up to 500 billion barrels. And because this is light, sweet oil, those billions of barrels will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL!

That’s enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for 41 years straight.

2. And if THAT didn’t throw you on the floor, then this next one should – because it’s from TWO YEARS AGO, people!

U.S. Oil Discovery- Largest Reserve in the World! Stansberry Report Online – 4/20/2006 Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the largest untapped oil reserve in the world is more than 2 TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005 President Bush mandated its extraction.

They reported this stunning news: We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on earth. Here are the official estimates:

8-times as much oil as Saudi Arabia
18-times as much oil as Iraq
21-times as much oil as Kuwait
22-times as much oil as Iran
500-times as much oil as Yemen

and it’s all right here in the Western United States .

HOW can this BE? HOW can we NOT BE extracting this!? Because the democrats, environmentalists and left wing republicans have blocked all efforts to help America become independent of foreign oil.

James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says we’ve got more oil in this very compact area than the entire Middle East -more than
2 TRILLION barrels. Untapped. That’s more than all the proven oil reserves of crude oil in the world today, reports The Denver Post.

Don’t think ‘OPEC’ will drop its price – even with this find? Think again! It’s all about the competitive marketplace, – it has to.

Got your attention/ire up yet? Hope so! Now, while you’re thinking about it .. and hopefully P.O’d, do this:

3. Forward this e-mail to all your friends and associates. If you don’t take a little time to do this, then you should stifle yourself the next time you want to complain about gas prices, because by doing NOTHING, you’ve forfeited your right to complain.

Now I just wonder what would happen in this country if every one of you sent this to every one in your address book.

Allies at Odds Again Over Afghanistan

By Richard Walker

While the U.S. prepares to send at least 25,000 more troops to Afghanistan, many European allies are refusing to follow suit. Some are even considering reducing the numbers of soldiers they have on the battlefield.

That is just one example of the ways in which Europeans differ from the Obama administration in planning a strategy for Afghanistan. Another is that Germany and France would like to see what has loosely been termed “a contact group” of countries leading the way to a solution of the conflict. The “contact group” would include Russia and China, thereby involving the five permanent members of the UN Security Council. Membership would also be extended to Pakistan and Iran, which border Afghanistan, and to India which, in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai last November, has taken a keen interest in events in Afghanistan.

The concept of expanding the range of countries involved in the Afghan war was first proposed at a NATO summit in 2006 by former French President Jacques Chirac. It found favor with Germany, which argued it was better to have more hands at the wheel. The U.S. delegation at the summit, led by then Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, angrily opposed
the idea and warned that it would create a command structure that lacked focus. From Washington’s perspective, the proposal risked ceding U.S. policy in the region to China and Russia. In the end, Miss Rice convinced the summit to abandon the proposal.

Lately, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has resurrected it amid reports that she and French President Nicholas Sarkozy see it as a way of lessening the burden of the Afghan war on NATO. Following Barack Obama’s inauguration, Ms. Merkel indicated she was not in favor of sending more German troops to Afghanistan, signaling that a new strategy was required. France has said it is reluctant to increase its 2,600 contingent and other E.U. nations like Holland want to reduce their troop commitment. In Britain too, there is growing disquiet about the war but the Labor government is unlikely to support the “contact group” strategy if the Obama administration, like its predecessor, opposes it. However, senior political figures have publicly expressed concerns about the war.

Recently Lord Ashdown, leader of the Liberal Democrats, who served with the British army in Northern Ireland, criticized the “international community” for having no clear plan for Afghanistan. He said it was “a scandal, wasting the lives” of young men and women on the front lines. He issued a dire warning that if NATO did not come up with a victory plan soon the war against the Taliban could be lost. He added that commanders on the ground had agreed with him that NATO had failed to take advantage of its victories against the Taliban.

So, even if Germany and France cannot push through the 2006 Chirac initiative to widen responsibility for the war, there will still be major disagreements between the U.S. and some of its allies over battlefield strategy and the political future of the Afghan president, Hamid Karzai.

With Afghan elections scheduled for this year, there have been leaked reports that the Obama administration is not a fan of Karzai because it believes he has failed to eradicate corruption in his government, thereby weakening the political process. It is said the U.S. would prefer a coalition of his peers to run the country and set a new example for governance. Some of his political opponents have already told Washington that they intend to oppose him and would like the U.S. to publicly state that it would prefer him to step down.

Karzai has detected the growing opposition from Washington and from Pakistan, a nation he has consistently blamed for many of his country’s ills. But, he feels confident that, while he is supported by France and Germany, his tenure as president is secure and he will be re-elected president. Much to the annoyance of Pakistan, he has established close ties to India, a big player in the region that has Washington’s ear. Lately, he has shrewdly played to the growing clamor among his own people for tighter controls on NATO operations and especially on raids by U.S. Special Forces.

In several public statements he pointed to the fact the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan found that 400 civilians were killed in air raids last year. In many instances, the air power was called in by Special Forces teams that had found themselves outgunned. Karzai has constantly demanded more accountability from NATO for civilian casualties and in doing so has enhanced his image with Afghans. He also knows that as a Pashtun his departure from power would be viewed by his tribe as a slight by Washington.

One other area in which the U.S. and its allies may differ in the months ahead is in the prosecution of the war. The fact more U.S. troops will be on the battlefield will see Washington calling the shots when it comes to deciding military strategy. As a consequence, it will not favor, as some Europeans do, the Karzai principle that the Afghan military should be consulted about all NATO operations and given advance warning about proposed Special Forces raids. Put simply, the U.S. military feels it cannot trust its Afghan counterparts with sensitive intelligence.

There is also a disagreement among NATO members about using a tactic from the Iraq war, namely creating militias and paying tribal elders to fight the Taliban. The aim is to create a type of “Afghan Awakening” to mirror the way Sunni militias were paid to fight al-Qaeda in Anbar province in Iraq.

Afghan president, Hamid Karzai is opposed to the use of militias, arguing that there are enough weapons in the country without adding more to the mix. In contrast, Lord Ashdown supports the U.S. strategy of militias and the surge of more U.S. combat troops but he remains convinced that many countries are not pulling their weight. He claims the “international community,” by which he means the U.S. and its NATO allies, is merely trying to stabilize Afghanistan rather than planning to win the war. He points to the fact that only 1/25th of the military and 1/50th of the aid that was used in the Bosnian conflict is now being committed to the Afghan war.

If he is right, and there is no reason to doubt him because he was the international high representative in Bosnia for four years, the Obama administration will have to think carefully if it wants to win the Afghan war.

By Ashdown’s calculations, winning would require a troop surge of immense proportions, which is a strategy America’s NATO allies will not support.

Therefore, can the goal for President Obama be to win the war or should he simply seek to stabilize Afghanistan and plan for an exit within a decade? While the president ponders those options he might also want to keep a close eye on Pakistan, which is steadily becoming mired in terror generated by an unchecked Taliban, which is asserting itself throughout the country. In 2008, the Taliban killed more people in Pakistan than they killed in Afghanistan. More worrying, for the U.S. and its allies is the realization that Pakistan is a nuclear nation.

Postal Service Nearing Insolvency

U.S. Postal Service Nearing Insolvency

Free traders working to delete ‘America-first’ provisions from latest spending package

STRESSED BY THE ECONOMY and competition from the Internet and private shipping companies, officials from the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) have asked Congress for permission to scale back their deliveries from six days a week to five in order to dramatically cut costs. They are considering not delivering on Tuesdays, according to one report.

The quasi-public Postal Service has been an “independent agency” of the U.S. government since 1971, but it remains heavily regulated by Congress. It is supposed to break even or make a small profit to reinvest in its operations. It must deliver mail six days a week across the United States at the same price, even to Alaska and Hawaii. It cannot close post offices, and its stamp prices can rise only at the rate of inflation.

In the past two years, however, the Postal Service has lost $7.9 billion, and it has had to borrow money to pay its bills. Last year, mail volume fell 4.5 percent, and the Postal Service expects a bigger drop in 2009. Like many other large corporations, the Postal Service’s biggest hurdle today is the cost of providing health care to current and future retirees. In late January, Postmaster General John Potter went before Congress for permission to delay $2 billion in health care payments until after 2016, saying, without the break, his organization could run out of cash later this  year when a billion dollars in health funds come due.
