America and the Sure Mercies of David

Isaiah 55:2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

Isaiah speaks directly to this generation. The trouble with America’s generation today is that they are deaf, so they cannot hear. Add to this the blindness of many so they cannot see and you have precisely what Israel faced in Isaiah’s day. Many of the people of Isaiah’s day heard a prophet that declared Gods displeasure with the sin of the people not only in Judah and Israel but with the surrounding nations. Isaiah being called by many today as the prophet of ‘Messianic proportions’ and ‘evangelical aims’ calls out to our day and age with many parallel truths from the word of God. One of the greatest portions of scripture is Isaiah 55.

Isaiah 6:9 ¶And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,

It is in this chapter that we read the famous verses which has made a call to many people over the ages. Everyone that thirsts is bidden to come. The one who is thirsty can find refreshment for his soul, quenching for the sin burden spirit, and find the richness of forgiveness and redemption in the ‘sure mercies of David’. In today’s society it is hard to understand getting something for nothing. But the truth is, the ‘sure mercies of David’ will cost you no money, with no price for man to buy it, however, it does cost you discipleship.

Isaiah 55:1 ¶Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

Our generation of Americans has never been so rich and comfortable, that is until lately. The last years since the year 2000 have also marked a watershed in troubles hitting America. But even as the life of comfort and ease are marked with such troubles and shakings of the end time, people still seem possessed to seek that which is foolish. Isaiah was told to go and preach the message God had given him until the houses are without man and the land is utterly desolate. The sins of Gods chosen people had reached the Throne of God and it became time for judgment. The sins had caught up with Israel. They would be judged as would Judah. The surrounding nations who saw this would know that the God of Israel had judged them. Little did these heathen nations understand that this God was the God of all the nations, not just the Hebrews. So too, America will find out that this is the God not only of the Nations, but of America as well.

The secular nation today we know as America cannot grasp the concept of ‘mercy’ and the ‘covenant’ through the ‘blood of Jesus Christ’ the son of David. The generations of Americans have worked hard, sweated, and built an empire. They think by their own hands. The truth is, the grace of God built America and his judgment will bring it down on their heads. Today the nation we know as America is at the crossroads of the Sin catching up with them. Just as Israel face the consequences for her sin, so too, will America. Her sins have found her out.
Hosea speaks of Ephraim saying that she is ‘become rich’, thus has found ‘substance’ and there is ‘none iniquity’ in me. In this statement we find prosperity and pride. Pride which brings down nations and men!

Hosea 12:8 And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.

The story of Ephraim goes back to Joseph and the time his Father laid his hand upon the heads of his grandsons. Both Ephraim and Manasseh were before Israel and he blessed Ephraim instead of the older Manasseh. In this, the reason was given by Israel saying “but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.” A multitude of nations shall come out of his loins. Further, the Lord said of Abraham, “in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.” This then was about the future fulfillment of what the LORD told Abraham. Further, there would come a time when both the seed of Ephraim and the seed of Judah would be re-united.

Genesis 48:17 And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he held up his father’s hand, to remove it from Ephraim’s head unto Manasseh’s head.
18 And Joseph said unto his father, Not so, my father: for this is the firstborn; put thy right hand upon his head.
19 And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.

Genesis 22:18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

We find Ezekiel giving the word of the LORD concerning this. A time when the children of Israel will be gathered from among the heathen and be joined to Judah. This is the prophecy concerning it. It is also important to note here that the ‘blessings of Abraham’ and the ‘sure mercies of David’ combine to bring in the Gentiles who by faith believe in, have accepted, and follow the Messiah. This is Jesus Christ our LORD, or Y’shua Ha Massiach [Hebrew messianic name].

Ezekiel 37:19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
20 And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.
21 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
22 And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:
23 Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.
24 And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them.

Galatians 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Revelation 21:24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.

As we look at this it is important to note here that many believe America is that part of the stick. The stick called ‘Ephraim’. The nations of the world have been gathered to America. Many from all over migrated to this land. This land which received the blessings of the LORD. You can trace these blessings back to the Torah. God blessed this nation because of his covenant with Abraham, the fulfillment of Israel’s blessing upon the head of Ephraim. For out of Ephraim would come a multitude of nations. This is who Ephraim is. For out of him, would come the nations or ‘gentiles’. The key to understanding this is the world ‘nations’ which is ‘goyim’. This is ‘heathen’ or ‘gentiles’ in the English, commonly referred to as ‘goy’ or ‘goyim’. This is plainly telling us the heathen or gentiles would find a place in the covenant of God through faith in the Messiah, who fulfilled the ‘sure mercies of David’. This was and always has been Gods plan, to unite in one peoples both Jew and Gentile, one bride, in Christ Jesus.

It is not surprising then that in these last days, the LORD is calling to his children in America telling them to repent and that judgment is coming. The truth is, America will be judged. She has been a Golden cup in the LORDS hand. Out of her went the Word of God and the ‘covenant’ which would call heathen from around the world to believe on the Messiah Jesus Christ. As well, America became blessed, but also obsessed with riches and wickedness. She became sinful, rebellious, and proud. She as Israel and other nations did before her will face the wrath of God. In this then, the believers today have to seek the LORD as never before. We are to come out of Babylon, which is America. There is only one nation that meets all the criteria for Babylon in Revelation 18 and in these verses below. She dwells on ‘many waters’, America has coasts along the Atlantic Ocean, Arctic Ocean, Gulf of Alaska, Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, the Carribean sea is close, and this land also is filled with rivers and lakes.

Jeremiah 51:8 Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.
9 We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.
10 The LORD hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God.
11 Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device is against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of his temple.
12 Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the LORD hath both devised and done that which he spake against the inhabitants of Babylon.
13 O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness.
14 The LORD of hosts hath sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a shout against thee.
15 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.

Further we are urged to flee, to come out of her. The nation we live in today is the only nation who could have made the ‘nations drunk’ with her wine. America alone has the technologies, the arts, the crafts, the perversions, the gods, the idols, the fornication, the movie industry, book industry, and much more to have persuaded the nations to come live as she does. Not only in freedom, but in the freedom to do as you please. Babylon here in Revelation 18 becomes a habitation for every kind of perversion and demon in hell. It flows like a putrid stream out of her. Now the LORD will stop it, for her sins have reached to heaven.

Jeremiah 51:6 Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD’S vengeance; he will render unto her a recompense.
7 Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD’S hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.
Revelation 18:3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

As we head towards the judgment of the LORD upon this nation and all nations, let us first proclaim the ‘sure mercies of David’ through Jesus Christ our LORD. Bringing this message of hope to those who will hear. For the wicked, the proud, and all others, including those in the church who refuse to walk in holiness in the fear of the LORD will not want to listen to the message we bring. For along with the promise of salvation and redemption, comes the message of judgment. In the same chapter that we find the call so sweet and rich for all who will listen also comes the following call to repent. This call is for the wicked to forsake his way, the unrighteous man his thoughts, and let them return to the LORD. Now this call given by Isaiah was to Israel, those who were far from the LORD. It is given not only to the unbelieving but to those in the church. The people of God, those in the church, are to forsake wicked ways and urged to return to the LORD.

Isaiah 55:6 ¶Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

To the church in America, to those who are called Christians today in this nation. Repent, put on sackcloth, mourn, and seek the LORD your God. For the Day of the LORD is approaching. Finally there is a prophecy in Jeremiah that says of the Gentiles, ‘surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.’

Jeremiah 16:19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.

This statement reflects America today who have sought such lies, vanity, and things that although there is monetary profit and wealth, it will not save them in the times to come! James speaks to this issue! Listen America and all the nations to this Word of the LORD!

James 5:1 ¶Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
