Seeing through the Glass Darkly

It was about six thirty in the morning, the snow had been coming down all night. Everything was wet with branches, tree’s, leaves, fences, houses covered in a thick 3 inch coating of the white stuff. My wife and I had again ventured out early this am and went to workout as we do on a regular basis. I was done, in the car, and was looking out as the gray haze of the morning revealed the sky and heavy white snow coming down gently. Because it had so much moisture, the water content was very high as it is this time of the year. Spring storms in our neck of the woods can be devastating and dangerous. But this one brought moisture with a rather warm day to it. The temp’s hovered just below freezing. Just enough to create snow and not enough to freeze the roadways to solid ice.
The car was warming up as I waited for my wife to join me. The windshield was melting snow as it fell while the car roof poured snow and liquid onto the surface before me. As I peered through the window I could see the club as we called it. I could not see very good as the images were blurred by the melting snow turning to liquid on the windshield. I could normally see into the club very well through the windows, but on this day, the weather created images that prevented me from identifying what was before me. As I looked a shape formed and after a few moments of looking I could tell the shape of my wife and then clearly identify her face.
As I went through these moments in silence, I thought of this nation and the churches. How many do not believe what we tell them is coming. I thought about the clearly partisan congress, government, and many people who back our current President. I then remember the Apostle Paul’s words to the Corinthians saying “now we see through a glass darkly.”
1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
James 1:23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
In this phrase, we find the King James has rendered the English word in both scriptures above as ‘glass’, from esoptron, strong’s 2072. It is rendered ‘mirror’, but is not used in that context. Both the KJV and the AV has rendered this Greek word ‘glass’. The mirrors of the ancients though were not of glass, but steel. The action denotes an action in the past, ‘a man beholding his natural face in a glass or mirror, something that reflects his image. Or in Corinthians the action is ‘we see through a glass darkly’, both from the current standpoint of looking and in eternity we look back and see that we could only see part of the picture, we saw as it were then, through a glass, a mirror, something that reflects, darkly. What we saw was not ourselves but heaven and heaven was reflected to us, but we at the time did not fully understand nor see what God had in store for us. We beheld and was given a glimpse, but even that look is just a small part of the picture. But when in eternity you will know, you will see, and you also will be known, just as you are here today. Who you are right now, will be you in eternity, howbeit, in a glorified body. People will know you!
In the phrase above from Corinthians, one of the key words is darkly. From the American-english perspective we may miss the point here. This word translated darkly is from the strongs 1722, and is a primary preposition denoting a fixed position. That position is fixed in place, time, or state. Vines says of this word, enorkizo, ‘to put under or bind by an oath’. When we put both together we see from our standpoint in eternity, as long as we are here on this earth, in this body, we will see through to heaven, that glass or mirror if you will, darkly. That is we are in a fixed time, place, state, i.e. a ‘fixed position’ and God has prepared for us and all who love him a special place. But the LORD God has placed or put under an oath, an ordinance of the LORD God if you will, that we and all in this place, time, and state an inability to see all that heaven reveals for those who love God.
Colossians 1:4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,
5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
Romans 8:24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
One reason for this is faith. It is from faith that we find hope. A hope in this world, whereas at one time we were without God and without any hope of deliverance and salvation. A hope brought to us by Jesus Christ. We are to walk by faith. If we could see clearly then it would not be faith. For we are to believe, then receive. But it is also a faith built upon the LORD God who reveals himself in us. As we walk in this world we have hope, that God who has promised us salvation and eternal life, cannot lie and that he will perform that thing which he promised. It is our hope, built upon the words of the Apostles, prophets, and Jesus Christ being the chief cornerstone. We find hope, comfort, and solice, in this. God cannot lie, will not lie, is incapable of doing so. He is just, merciful, and full of grace. This is simply the ‘love of the truth’. The truth of God revealed through Jesus Christ to us!

It is here that we understand also there is another Jesus. This past week our President who claims to be a Christian, went to Georgetown and spoke. The White house delivered the will of the President to this University when it said to black out the word Jesus, spelled in the Greek letters. They complied and Obama got his desire, as they blacked out the word IESOUS [in the Greek], or Jesus. The Jesus currently installed in the White House allows Abortion, Gay marriage, and many other things. It is here we understand this nation is not a theocracy, but neither is it a Christian nation anymore, as you might define one. I also tell you that the Jesus we know is definately not installed in the White House of this pagan nation. He is in heaven, at the right hand of the Father, preparing to come back soon.
It is a nation as Obama said of Muslims, Christians, Hindu’s, and others. This is a nation that has taken Jesus and put him alongside Mohammed and many other Gods. It is a nation that doesn’t seem to fear God or it would not be doing what we are. So understand as we speak of HOPE and seeing through a glass darkly, that you must have the correct Jesus Christ, Y’Shua Ha Massiach. Our savior is the name above all names, all the knee’s will bow and every tongue will confess he is LORD. This Jesus or Y’Shua, will not share his office with anyone. He alone is the savior. He alone is the ‘only begotten son of God’. He alone is the love of the truth. But in this nation of idolatry and harlotry, he is just another religious figure followed by the conservative right. But in their view, our savior is not a democrat, republican, white man, black man, or any other. He is alone, the son of God. He is above all and is coming back to rule and reign in righteousness with a fist of Iron. All men, women, and children can call on him and follow him. They do, in fact, in his kingdom, you will find people from all the nations on earth, ‘the nations of them that are saved.’
2 Corinthians 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
Galatians 1:6 ¶I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
Galatians 3:1 ¶O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
1 John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Even though we see through this ‘glass or mirror’ very darkly, in the current time we live in, we do know who our savior is. We have been warned not to follow another gospel, another Jesus, and to understand that the ‘spirit of antichrist’ will do the work to destroy the truth of God in the earth. This is the truth, Obama, and the nation as a whole seem to be fully willing to destroy. Their Jesus is one of a New world order, one that embraces all religious fervor, all Gods, and accepts all ways into heaven. Their Jesus see’s no trouble with iniquity, Gay marriage, idolatry, fornication, abortions, and the everyday lasciviousness of Americans and the nations of men.
Although we may see through a ‘glass darkly’ into heaven, one thing is for sure and certain, God has given us clear instructions and guidance on what to believe and in whom to believe on earth. We all would do well to remember in just whom we do believe and why? We will be called upon to walk in the faith of ‘Jesus’ and keep the testimony of ‘Jesus’! We will also be called upon to love Jesus more than our very lives! This proof in what we believe and how we walk will be tested more than at any other time. Make no mistake, those who follow the real Jesus, the real Gospel, and have the real Spirit of God will face hatred, persecution, and possibly death. So indeed, we would do well do remember, walk in, and keep the faith and testimony of Jesus, while we look to eternity and those things God has prepared for us!
