‘The Real Meaning of and Real Purpose of Faith’
Romans 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
- It is what this is about, belief!
- Belief in an unknown god was not there, then wham, we believed!
- Through no power of our own, wham, we believed!
- Why?
- Something happened!
- Why?
- A power occurred!
- Why?
- We changed!
- Why?
- We came to know this God and started walking by Faith!
Belief in something we cannot or could not see, that is, until we saw him by faith then everything changed in our world!
The atheist sees us and asks where is your God, I see nothing! He doesn’t have faith as we do!
The American in his wealth, pride, lifestyle, sees us and says, there is a force, something that holds it together, but God if there is one, helps those who helps himself!
The goyim, the gentile who has no relation to this God, sees one who is foolish, such wisdom is foolishness to believe in something you cannot see and then dare to live and then possibly die for such a belief. This is foolishness to them.
The truth is this God defends the poor, is attentive to the downtrodden, and is laborious in revealing himself and bringing those who need help, to himself; teaching them to believe in someone they cannot see, trust in something they cannot touch, and walk in a belief that may lead them to death for the namesake of whom they believe in and cannot see!
The jews had experienced 400 years of what we call, between the covenants. From Malachi to the first word in Matthew.
They knew religious fervor, they knew of a God, they had hope in a Messiah. This Messiah would bring in a new era of deliverance for the Jews and Israel. Once again he would bring in and restore the twelve tribes.
Heb 10:10
By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Heb 10:11
And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
Heb 10:12
But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
They had seen the glory years, but now the generation to welcome the Messiah Y’SHUA was one that only read in their own histories the glories of David and Solomon. They read of Elijah, Enoch, and of Father Abraham. They also had become entwined in religious covenantal law that made it impossible for many of them to follow the law of God. The religious experts, the priest, Sanhedren had developed laws of their own, called traditions of men that made the real law of God of none effect.

The Jews had seen the northern tribes scattered, the 10 most northern, called Israel or Ephraim. God had said he would scatter them to the nations for their idolatry and he did. Now after the invasion into Israel of strong Gentile nations like Persia and Babylon, they had been overrun, captured, made slaves. It was now the time of the Roman Empire, they had allowed the tiny slot of Judah to be run by the Jews own power structure in oversight by the Roman Governor. The strong arm of Roman law was everywhere. Roman roads connected the world, and the power to contend with was Rome.
It was into this that the Messiah who would fulfill the hopes and dreams of mothers, Jewish heritages, lines of hope through the ages. All these women hoped as Mothers of Israel to birth the King that they knew would come. He would be the Messiach, the Hope of the Restoration of Israel, the Son of God!
It came through a woman called Mary and her husband Joseph who did not physically father this child but was a father in the flesh to the young Messiah.
This was the promise of Israel, the hope of Jews everywhere! This would be the offering of God, the Lamb of God, the one slain before the foundation of the world!
This is the PROMISE to come! Although they still did not understand his full duty, he would pick followers who later would become witnesses. These are the Apostles and their witness to the things they saw, experienced, and were taught. All this being put down in written record for others, these personal records are in the Gospels. They were never meant to replace the torah, the prophets, the books of wisdom which the Gentile believers now call the Old Testament or covenant! For these early ones, their book was the Torah, the five books of law, the prophets, and the books of wisdom, the psalms, the proverbs. Their church was the synagogue and meetings in homes of believers, later on during persecution caves and dens of rocks for safety. They met on the traditional Shabbat, and also on everyday of the week in which they could. This was the day of fresh outpouring, the power of God, the demonstration of the Holy Spirit!
It was the time of evil, rebellion, religious fervor, idolatry, fornication, and man’s propensity to war and do wickedly. But in this, God sent his son, born of a woman, filled with the fullness of the Spirit of God! This was Gods Son, Y’SHUA Ha Massiach! He had come, fulfilling Gods promise to mankind! Yet for these, this Messiah would not spend eternity on earth building Zion. He would establish his purposes which were the Fathers purposes, leave the Spirit of God, Hope, and see the building of the ‘called out ones’. Who would carry his message to the end of the World and his coming back again to this earth and then he would fulfill and build up Zion on Earth.
This is the last days of the end, just before the coming of Messiah back.
This is the faith, the promise, the hope of mankind! This is the beginning and the foundational hope forming what we call the “Context of faith”.
- He was everything to these Jewish people!
- He was more than a spot of religion!
- He was more than another brand to believe in!
- He was more than what we would call denominational!
He was the True HOPE of all Israel, the Messiach, the coming promised one who would restore all things!
