Rise Up and Be Healed

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

The Apostle Paul established the Corinth church around 50-51 AD when he spent eighteen months there on his second missionary journey.

Acts 18:1 ¶After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth; 2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them. 3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers. 4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

As was the Apostle’s work ethic, every shabbat or sabbath he would in in the synagogue. Here in Acts 18, see above, there were both Jews and Greeks [Gentiles] who attended the synagogue every shabbat along with Paul. This also goes along way to say that the early Apostles and the believers themselves did in fact keep sabbath on the traditional Jewish day, i.e., the evening and the morning were the first day. Shabbat would fall on the evening of the 6th day, for then according to the Word of God, the 7 th day began then. It is here we see that Paul actually reasoned with both groups, with the Jew’s demanding a sign and to many greeks or gentiles here, it was literally foolishness. But with this Apostle, signs did follow and his words came with such power that even the Gentiles were in the synagogue listening to the reasoning. Continue reading → Related posts:

John 6:
26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.
27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
28 ¶Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

The Jews in Jesus day were not without miracles, that is true miracles done by the Lord. In fact, John describes the many miracles and signs he gave. In chapter six of John and verse twenty six the Lord pointedly says to the Jews gathered “Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.” I ask myself when I read this “How can Jews where Jesus said “salvation is of the Jews”, be filled with a miracle feed like the loaves and fishes and still not grasp that this was a totally creative miracle done to prove he was the “True bread out of heaven?” Yet, the Jews who saw, did not believe the works he did. They were blinded by their own traditions, pride, and unbelief. The same Jews who persecuted the prophets and killed them still rejected those whom God sent to them, including Jesus of Nazareth. This is so clearly seen in the majestic vision by the angel in Revelation when he says: "Come I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife." One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, "Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb." And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like jasper, clear as crystal. It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. (Revelation 21:9-14; emphasis added) This is actually entirely consistent with many other scriptural references which hold that in the end there will be only ONE FLOCK, ONE ISRAEL OF GOD, ONE BODY, ONE JERUSALEM, ONE BRIDE - Jew and Gentile forged into one Tree or Commonwealth of Israel. Under the strong influence of the separation - which particularly Constantine, the Roman emperor, was responsible for - which cut the Gentile church off from its original Jewish tree and roots, Christianity became a separate, distinct religion. And even after the Reformation and various evangelical and charismatic awakenings, Gentile believers on the whole were taught that they belonged to a separate body called the church, or Bride of Christ. that would one day be separately treated with a heavenly rapture before the Lord in His mercy returns to Israel. This, however, is NOT what the Bible teaches, and certainly in this wonderful passage in The Revelation we unmistakably find that Israel - all the tribes of Israel -are seen as part of the bride or the heavenly Jerusalem. Psalms 99:8 Thou answeredst them, O LORD our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions. 9 Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy. Psalms 147:11 The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy. God is not have to do it, did He? He could have left Israel in Egypt with Pharaoh under bondage but he did not. He could have raised up a people from among other peoples and tribes, but He did not! The fact is historical today, the Hebrew’s were delivered from bondage to the Egyptian’s long ago. It is funny today as we look back on all this and the discussion about the Hebrew’s in Egypt sometimes remain around how could they of build the Pyramid’s, drag the large stones into place, and do all that building. From Egypt we also get the ancient ‘conspiracy’ tale of the Masons. We get so much from Egypt, myth, legend, and man’s idea’s. But lost in all the secularism, hype, and talk is the fact of a Sovereign God, called Yhwh, or Yahweh, who had a covenant with a person name Abraham. Seeing through the Glass Darkly

It was about six thirty in the morning, the snow had been coming down all night. Everything was wet with branches, tree's, leaves, fences, houses covered in a thick 3 inch coating of the white stuff. My wife and I had again ventured out early this am and went to workout as we do on a regular basis. I was done, in the car, and was looking out as the gray haze of the morning revealed the sky and heavy white snow coming down gently. Because it had so much moisture, the water content was very high as it is this time of the year. Spring storms in our neck of the woods can be devastating and dangerous. But this one brought moisture with a rather warm day to it. The temp's hovered just below freezing. Just enough to create snow and not enough to freeze the roadways to solid ice.

The car was warming up as I waited for my wife to join me. The windshield was melting snow as it fell while the car roof poured snow and liquid onto the surface before me. As I peered through the window I could see the club as we called it. I could not see very good as the images were blurred by the melting snow turning to liquid on the windshield. I could normally see into the club very well through the windows, but on this day, the weather created images that prevented me from identifying what was before me. As I looked a shape formed and after a few moments of looking I could tell the shape of my wife and then clearly identify her face.

As I went through these moments in silence, I thought of this nation and the churches. How many do not believe what we tell them is coming. I thought about the clearly partisan congress, government, and many people who back our current President. I then remember the Apostle Paul's words to the Corinthians saying "now we see through a glass darkly."

In the confines of human endeavors, men have sought to bring upon themselves the perfection of society. It was in this vain that early brave warriors of the times came to the shores of this land. Howbeit, deep within this effort, also arrived men and women who walked in their own private wars, injustices, greed, lust, and also those few who knew the True and living God.

Overtime these shores became filled with a people who knew not a nation before as they had come to love these shores. Nor did any nation before this one find the grace of God so bountiful and rich as this land. Only, I dare say did Israel of old truly understand the depths of Gods bounty. This nation grew exceedingly as the land filled with immigrants, beggars, liars, and those few folk who had known aforetime their own sins, but had them delivered by the grace of God through Jesus Christ into the lake of his forgiveness.

Prophetic Countdown in the Days of Awe!

The world saw the dark day in which the Dow dropped 777 points in a one day nose dive at the beginning of the Jewish Holiday celebrating the New Year known as Rosh Hashanah. Putting this in perspective many analysts have been trying to calm the fears as major governments joined in the move to save the world economic system by buying up bad debt. Governments around the globe are putting together their own rescue packages as did our own Government after this historic drop of the Dow and the major US Wall street banks going under. As the American government nationalized the banks and put its own citizens in further debt, the nationalization of banks world wide have begun. The World officials and banking experts have been doing this in an attempt to save the world economy as fear spreads like a fire. Fox business news quoted Frank Davis, the director of sales and trading at LEK Securities who said "We''ve got fear selling going on. It''s hard to control logical when you have fear selling."
