1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

This time of the year the morning sky is usually clear, the stars are out, and on a full moon the landscape is readily seen. The time is four thirty in the morning; I have been up for about an hour now. Usually that is, however, some mornings the Lord wakes me up early, real early. Those times are spent in quiet with Him pertaining to what the early morning wake up call is about. Sometimes intercession, other times quiet listening as I write what I believe the Holy Spirit gives me.

This like other weekday mornings the wife and I are off for our workout. We begin our workout at five am, opening the doors to the place along with a number of other stalwart people. In the spring and summer the mornings are cool and the air usually clean, that is except for a forest fire or fire on the desert and brush. When that happens you can smell it, as fires from Colorado, Montana, and even Canada can make it here, all depends on the jet stream. In the winter dark thirty as I call it comes early in the evening around five and is really dark at three thirty in the morning. The sun won’t raise till around seven thirty or eight. That is when the early time is hard, in the winter. It can be cold, brutal, and makes for a hard go on a daily basis. But we have been doing it for years now. It is part of our life.

This morning I am continuing a little workout after the wife has gone to shower and ready for work. Since I don’t have so much to do in that regards, I shower and dress in five minutes. As I work a machine for the stomach abs and sides I watch the others around me do their exercise. My wife and I are part of that generation that came to birth after WWII. This was the largest generation called the ‘baby boomers.’ Right after war all those GI’s came home to their wives and girlfriends. Marriage, the war just won and the new housing boom that would entail created a perfect climate for having babies. The generation that fought that war did have babies and lots of them. Now today that generation which saw the Korean war, Vietnam war, the middle east wars with Iraq, along with the turbulent protesting 60’s, the swinging 70’s, the abundant 80’s and 90’s is getting older. Women now either at my age or within some 10 years is all around me as are guys, every one of them fighting the same battle, which is age. The women are trying to get back that svelte figure they had in high school, while the guys are trying to lose that middle bulge, side pockets, and look as those they are 16 again. Still others are working out who have never seen the battle of the bulge, leastwise they look it. These are the ones who have little percentage of body fat, and higher muscle tone. Men and Women, every one of them, though, are heading to the destiny we call old age.

Habakkuk whose name means ‘embrace’, faced a national crisis in Judah. The words describe the scene around him and these words are: violence, iniquity, grievance, spoiling, strife, contention, law is slacked, judgment never goes forth, wicked compasses the righteous, wrong judgment is the result. During the time of such crisis, Habakkuk was embraced by God, who answered his questions and found faith and sustenance in God who would see him through the coming trial upon the nation. This prophet would also ‘embrace’ others, and help them to find the God of their salvation as well.

In the beginning of the book, we find this prophet crying to God and asking how long it would be before he would hear. All this wickedness and violence were all around him, it looked as though the wicked and evil had taken over the place. The man of God had faith, but right now, he needed answers to the calamity that surrounded him. Where was God? Why was this happening? How long would the LORD allow it to go on? All this was on the prophets heart and mind, as well on the thoughts of the other righteous in Judah at the time.

Habakkuk 1:2 O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save!
3 Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention.
Habakkuk 1:4 Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth

2 Timothy 4:6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

When reading the words of the Apostles we find much in their lives and what they faced. As we read it, or as I read it, I can literally look into the daily situations they came up against. For all they went through, they did not face the Judgment of a nation, per se, as we will see in these last days. Even the Prophets declared, rose up early, and warned Israel of coming judgment. The Prophets faced the judgment along with the rest of the people, howbeit, we find they like Jeremiah were allowed to stay in their native land or go to Babylon. Ezekiel, however, was led captive to Babylon, as was Daniel. But for all their experiences, the early church did not face this, but faced persecution. Theirs became one of the biggest persecutions of the church. It was the persecution while living in the Roman Empire at the hands of the Caesar’s who declared laws against the ‘Christian’ believers.
I find great ‘live ability’ in these writings of scripture by the hand of the Apostles, through the inspiration of the Spirit of God. We can peer into the daily life and see what they faced. It helps us to understand these were real people facing real situations. They believed in the same Lord, walked by faith as we must, and faced tribulation as the Lord warned we would all face in this life. The second book of Timothy is seen as being written by Paul after he was arrested the second time [some say at Troas because of 4:13] and taken to Rome. This was the persecution instigated by Nero in A.D. 64. The serious manner is illustrated in these verses for Paul is now ready to be offered and he saw his time of departure [death and to be with Lord] soon. In his cell I can see him praying, fasting, and possibly reading what he had of the Torah and the Prophets. He wanted to see Timothy again and warned him against ‘Alexander the coppersmith’ who did much evil to Paul.

2 Timothy 4:6  For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
9  ¶Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:
10  For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
11  Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
12  And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus.
13  The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.
14  Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
15  Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.
16  ¶At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.

Paul when first arrested was able to live in a quarters and had many people come and go to see him. Now in this persecution, Nero intended to destroy this upstart faith and all who promoted it.

Paul, the apostle, who before was called Saul, after his great travail and unspeakable labors in promoting the Gospel of Christ, suffered also in this first persecution under Nero. Abdias, declareth that under his execution Nero sent two of his esquires, Ferega and Parthemius, to bring him word of his death. They, coming to Paul instructing the people, desired him to pray for them, that they might believe; who told them that shortly after they should believe and be baptized at His sepulcher. This done, the soldiers came and led him out of the city to the place of execution, where he, after his prayers made, gave his neck to the sword.[source-http://www.biblestudytools.com/history/foxs-book-of-martyrs/paul.html]

Of course, Nero failed, but many like Paul died during this. John was also persecuted during this time and Fox’s book of Marytrs says of John that they “tried to boil him in oil”, but he would not die.
John-The “beloved disciple,” was brother to James the Great. The churches of Smyrna, Pergamos, Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicea, and Thyatira, were founded by him. From Ephesus he was ordered to be sent to Rome, where it is affirmed he was cast into a cauldron of boiling oil. He escaped by miracle, without injury. Domitian afterwards banished him to the Isle of Patmos, where he wrote the Book of Revelation. Nerva, the successor of Domitian, recalled him. He was the only apostle who escaped a violent death. [source-http://www.biblestudytools.com/history/foxs-book-of-martyrs/john.html]

Falling short of killing John, they banished him to Patmos, where the LORD intended him to write of the things he was shown regarding the ‘apocalypse’ or ‘revealing of Jesus Christ’. Both the Prophets of old and the Apostles had to trust in this God whom we serve. We had like faith, even though, they were Jewish and many of us Gentiles. Thanks to God, we through Faith in Jesus Christ have likeminded faith and have received of the Promises of Abraham. We know today through the Revelation of the New Testament of the Passover Lamb, the sacrifice, and the grafting in of the Gentiles.

In these verses in Romans, Paul lays out the Gentiles who believe and the Jewish nation, Israel who were ‘disobedient and gainsaying people’. The gentiles form a nation who did not seek God, but came to know him, through Jesus Christ. It is this that God is using to ‘provoke’ the Israel of today to believe. Paul details this in Romans 11. It is here, though, in these lines of scripture that we can trust the veracity of scripture and the fact that God is not a man that he could ever lie. What he says is truth. Therefore, “whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”, is one truth that all men and women, jew or gentile can trust.

Romans 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12  ¶For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14  How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15  And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
16  But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
17  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
18  But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.
19  But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.
20  But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.
21  But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

Of Israel’s experiences, trials, and troubles, we need to take a lesson. The church today is in denial of this fact. The church is today a weak, rich, poor, ilk of a people that represents God. The fact today, I believe is that society and the church alike are in a state of denial. One that doesn’t see judgment coming, nor especially the church who acknowledges that judgment will begin in the house of God. We are warned bluntly that God will not make excuse for sin. He has provided his Son to bring you into his presence, yes, but we are told to purge ourselves from iniquity. We confess sin, forsake sin, and walk in newness of Life in Christ. We do not become bond servants of sin, lust, or the desires of the flesh and mind. We are bond servants of Christ and he is in us, therefore, we are new creations in Christ and these lusts have no power over us.

1 Peter 4:17  For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

2 Timothy 2:19  ¶Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20  But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21  If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

But we see in today’s church and in society that inquity abounds, rebellion is rampant, and the fact is that “society and the church have an open, naked, indifference” to the things of God, his holiness, and his laws. Judgment fell upon Israel for this mindset, it will fall upon the church. In both cases, Israel and the church today, God will repay according to your works. He is no respector of persons! Paul outlines to the Romans these points in verse 6, saying that God, “will render to every man according to his deeds.” Finally, adding that “there is no respect of persons with God” in verse 11.

Romans 1:32  Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Romans 2:1  ¶Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.
2  But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.
3  And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
4  Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
5  But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
6  Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
7  To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
8  But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
9  Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
10  But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
11  For there is no respect of persons with God.

Just as the Prophets lived in the shadows of God’s warnings to Israel and their eventual ‘furnace of affliction’.

Isaiah 48:10  Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

So too, the Apostles lived in the shadow of Rome’s influence and the eventual persecution that would take them out of the land of the living and into the presence of God. These Apostles worked and lived to prepare the believers for the time when the original Apostles would be gone. In their place would come false teachers and others who would not spare the flock bringing in heresy. Add to this would be persecution of a nature that forced many believers into the underground catacombs beneath Rome. All through history we see the foundations of faith lead and stamped with the blood of martyrs. All through history we find nations and peoples who like the nations today, who ‘disregard’ and have ‘naked indifference’ to the things of God, including his warnings.

My friends you and I as believers and followers of our LORD are living in the shadows of judgment. This is a unique time, for we will see this end of the age usher in the presence of the millennium and our Messiah Jesus Christ, Yeshua. But before that comes, there will be a time when this God will be sure the ‘nations’ KNOW that I AM the LORD! This time is spoken of as a “Snare” by our LORD and called a “time of Jacobs trouble” in scripture.

Isaiah 45:5  ¶I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
6  That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.

Everyday that we mark off the calendar is one closer to this judgment which will envelope the world. America, the church, and all others will be affected by this. But make no mistake here, there is a difference between them that know God and them that do not. It is here that the dichotomy shifts. God will take care of them that are his! Jesus prays in John 17 and verse 15 to the Father that he “should not take them out of the world, but that he should keep them from the evil.” This evil, is actually, ‘the evil’, refering to the devil, satan. He is the evil one, and our God will keep us from him. He will wage war against us, but we will overcome!

John 17:15  I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
2 Thessalonians 3:3  But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.

Our reward is ours, as we overcome, we shall inherit all things, and it is given to us as a truth, which is, “I will be his God, and he shall be my son [or daughter]”

Revelation 21:6  And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7  He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Let him, therefore, scripture says: “if he is unjust, let him be unjust still, if he is filthy, let him be filthy still, if he is righteous, let him be righteous still, if he is holy, let him be holy still.” For the reward of all is given to each man, a reward for being “unjust and filthy” but, a reward for being “righteous and holy.”

Revelation 22:10  And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.
11  He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
12  And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
13  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
14  Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

In view of this, my friends, let me add this: “your faith will give you victory over the world”, according to John. John also says in Revelation summarizing this ‘victory’ as being three part: i.e. first, overcoming by the blood of the Lamb [born again of the Spirit], by the word of your testimony [what Jesus did for you and in you, and who he is], and you love not your lives unto the death!

Revelation 12:11  And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

1 John 5:4  For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Truly, we are living in the shadows of history. These shadows today reveal the judgment to come. Judgment is standing on the ramparts of the earth, put there by the LORD and his light is casting out the warnings to all people. Beloved we are not in darkness that this day should come upon us unaware. The world and the people who do not know God are in darkness and cannot see this judgment. You and I do, therefore stand in the LORD. We understand many others have gone before us. The prophets of old, standing in the shadows of judgment on Israel. The Apostles and the early church standing in the shadows of persecution by Rome and the Caesars. Then the centuries of faithful Christians who were led as ‘lambs to the slaughter’ for their faith. They too, were in the shadows of these last days of which we live. We are the testimony to these days and the faithfulness of our God and our Lord. We are in the very time before the ‘revealing of our LORD’ in the sky!

Revelation 19:11  ¶And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12  His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13  And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14  And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15  And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16  And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

another 30's depression

The Study we covered this week is called the ‘Grapes of Wrath’. It is found in Revelation chapter 14. The angel of God who has a sickle is told to ‘thrust in thy sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for her grapes are fully ripe’. It is here we get a picture of the harvesting of the earth and the winepress into which the grape go into. It is the ‘great winepress of the wrath of God.’ The Apostle Paul spoke that he knew the ‘terror of the LORD, therefore he persuaded men.’ He persuaded them to repent, seek God, believe in Jesus Christ, follow him, and keep his commandments.

Revelation 14:17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.
18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

Revelation 15:1 ¶And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.

But no mention of the Grapes of Wrath would be complete here without a reflection of the movie directed by John Ford. It starred Henry Fonda as Tom Joad and a great character actress Jane Darwell as his mother, Ma Joad. This is a black and white picture that was directed by John Ford and in his style, it reflected the hard times of the depression era 30′s. This is about one of many who were poor, lived in the midwest and farmed. Because of the poverty, drought, and shifting sands, they cannot farm, make money, pay bills, or live. So this family depicted is one of many who were forced off family farms and went west to California to get a job. Along the way you see the utter deprivation and depression of the times. The homeless, hopelessness, yet the love of the family and the knowing that in all this suffering there was a Great God who was in charge of all things. Even though you may not understand it, the suffering was part and partial of the whole of the depression era times. It is here that when a nation faces the horrors of bad and evil times that society believes that the ‘wrath of God’ is revealing itself against all men everywhere. It was this thought during the ‘grapes of wrath’ depicted in the movie. Today, though, would we understand this as the ‘wrath of God’ or are we fully and totally oblivious to the God of heaven and his commandments! Are we totally and fully, completely ignorant of Him! Is society today in America the one who looks back on the times of the 30′s and does not see the ‘grapes of wrath’ but a time of conspiracies and bankers who brought tough times? Where is God in today’s troubles? Where is the society that used to believe in the God of the bible, his son, and feared his commandments, thus they strove to keep them! I tell you where it is, dead and buried long ago in unbelief and modernism that brings a society to selfishness and pride before God! Pride goes before a fall, and America is headed right towards it!

Moreover, according to some sources John Steinbeck who wrote the book had a tough time finding a name. He finally came up with ‘The Grapes of Wrath’, adapting the title from the line of the ‘Battle Hymn of the Republic’. The lines go as follows:

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord:
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword:
His truth is marching on.

The line in this hymn of the republic is also found in the scripture above, verses 19-20 of Revelation 14.

One worthy reviewer of the movie wrote that in Chapter 25 of ‘The Grapes of Wrath’ the situation was such that there was a “purposeful destruction of food to keep the price high”.
Thus you find the phrase the ‘grapes of wrath’. Here is the lines from the book that depicts this:

…and in the eyes of the hungry there is a growing wrath. In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage.

There is no doubt that this movie has been one of my favorites, even though it is black and white. A poignant story, but one that reflects, I believe a future America. The times we have been living in ease, comfort, and luxury are coming to an end. There will always be rich, even to the last day! But today we are seeing the plots of the rich and powerful as they manipulate the markets, the money, the economy, the nations, the justice system, and bring their will upon all people.

I believe that a depression era is coming yet again. This time it will be far worse than ever thought. It will occur not only in America, but worldwide. But living in America, it is hard to imagine the picture of the 30′s that we see in the movie, “grapes of wrath.” My family lived in Catalina Island off the coast of California. They were not wealthy, but they had food, shelter, and a livelihood. My grandfather worked for the government, and many of our relatives lived in California itself. They too, lived fairly well. My other grandparents did not live as well. They knew hardship, scarce food, and tough times on the farm. Times were tough, very tough, and people had to scrape to survive. Yet in all this, there is a hope for us today!

This is where we must today listen to the Word of God, obey it, keep it, and walk in what the LORD Jesus has commanded us to do. We must also keep the faith of Jesus and his testimony! The closeness that obedience to the Word of God brings to the life of the believer is real. When we obey the Word, we obey God, when we obey God, the relationship with him is in the light. For we walk in the light, as he ‘YSHUA or Jesus’ did! Jesus did what the Father asked of him! It is through that obedience of walking in the light as he Yshua is the light, that fellowship truly begins and continues to every avenue of our lives.

Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Jesus revealed the Father unto the people and had followers who later became the Apostles. These were in the world, but when they found the LORD, or he really found them, the True living God was revealed to them through Y’SHUA. He gave them the ‘Words of life’, testifying of the Father, his love, and redemptive purposes for all men. It was those Words they received and Jesus whom they loved and followed.

John 17:6 ¶I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.
8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

I am convinced that those things coming cannot separate us at all from the LOVE of God which is in Christ Jesus. I am fully persuaded that the LORD God can and will take care of those who call upon him, walk in his ways, and are obedient to his will for them. This is one of the greatest times coming, even amidst suffering and despair. Even among those who see death, destruction, plagues, famines, and even the rise of the beast, this will be a time of provision by the LORD God for his own. We will learn to walk the coals of fire, the valley of the shadow of death will be visited, and for some, that valley will be death for them as they face martyrship for the LORD. But in all this the believe who will stand by faith, trusting in the LORD, will find a presence, a comfort, and a voice leading them through all the dangers and toils of the day.

As the elect of God, keeping his commands, doing as the LORD says too do, and walking in his faith, while keeping his testimony on our lips, the world will see the light of the LORD in us. I tell you this, not one soul, not even the devil can lay a charge against Gods Elect who fulfills his command to ‘live by faith’. There is no time, not even another ‘Grapes of wrath’ scenario that will separate us from the LOVE of God in Christ. No time of suffering, killing, or even martyrship can stop Gods LOVE from reaching and keeping us! Nothing, Nothing at all! God is faithful, he cannot lie, he cannot fail, he will not let anyone who trusts in him down! The Apostle Paul says it best in Romans below!

Romans 8:33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Further it is time folks for us to rise to the occasion today! Put off procrastination and let your faith become yea and amen in Him who has delivered us into his heavenly kingdom through Christ. Let us rise, walk, and be healed. Let us rise, walk, and be full of faith! Let us greet the morrow with the Son of God alive in our hearts and the Spirit of God empowering us for his service. For whether we live, or whether we die, we are the LORD’S. Not one soul, not one devil, not even the beast himself can touch us if we are fully in HIM who has called us, saved us, and is currently keeping us in Him through Jesus Christ our LORD!

Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
15 ¶Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
17 ¶Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

May the LORD bless you and keep you my friends,

Call of the Council of God

Call of the Council of God
A psalm by Dana G Smith

Sunset before day of the Lord

Thus the Lord called a council, and he spake thus, to all the nations, peoples, and lands,
Will ye hear? Will ye consider that this is so? If so, you may be hid during the day of the Wrath of the Lord our God!

Jeremiah 22:21  I spake unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyedst not my voice.
22  The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.

Behold the mist arises.
The Haze comes and stands upon the land.
It covers, unfolding deception, leading many to err.
Woe unto the people for they cannot see nor understand.
Theirs is a land gone astray.
The ground opens; hell releases itself upon the land.
Bloodshed to bloodshed,
Harlotries to harlotries,
Deceivers to deceptions,
Mockers to cruel liars,
From unbelief to mockeries, it is released,
Upon a people, upon a land, upon a nation.
These stand upon their pride,
Those who refuse to acknowledge their sins,
Whose shepherds are perverse, and their prophets who push lies for truth,
Who do not know the Lord God of Hosts,
Who do not understand the signs,
Nor do they hear my warnings,
For their eyes are closed, their ears full of wax so they cannot hear.

Comfort in the Day of Rebellion

Reviewing 2009, We do this in December of each year and also look to the next year.
This Psalm ran the first news show of 2009!

Comfort in the Day of Rebellion
‘Precursor 2009′
A Psalm by the Watchman Dana G Smith
keywords: harlot, nation, God, LORD, Jesus,

Psalms 2:1  ¶Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2  The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
3  Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
gentile nation, sunrise city

This is a Harlot nation,
Blinded so she cannot see,
Deaf so she cannot hear,
Muted so she does not speak truth!
What shall I say?
Who will listen to this?

Revelation 18:7  How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

Given to pleasures for her own purpose,
This is one who revels in her own pursuits!
Once for Pride,
Twice for Idolatry,
Thrice for Fornication,
Four times for Murder,
And Yet five for Bloodshed of Innocence,
Six times for Greed,
and More yet, Seven times for Selfishness!
For she looks to her own ways!
She has said in her heart, “I am a Queen, and shall see no sorrow”.

Can you name them all,
The Sins of a Harlot nation,
Yea, they are many,
Yet the sins of her people are not a few!
This is a people who loves it so.
Yet will these listen?
Nay, but their Pride leads them.

Isaiah 59:14  And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.

Where is truth,
Yea it is fallen!
Where is Salvation,
Yea, it is covered up,
By my own people, they tell it not!
Where is holiness,
Yea none knoweth this nor doeth it!

Proverbs 6:17  A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

2 Timothy 3:2  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

Profane, yea its way is known.
It goeth about the city,
Yea it mocketh the righteous God!
It maketh a tumult in the streets,
For the people parade in its name.
Profaneness is gone out in the land,
Its own way is considered holiness to these,
They mock my ways and lift their head higher,
Surely they have said, ‘We will ascend to the Most High’!
The Righteous way, saith these, ‘is an abomination’,
Therefore choose profaneness, it is accepted.
Will you listen?
Will you hear?

Ezekiel 7:19  They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

Isaiah 24:11  There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.

Isaiah 30:1  ¶Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:

“I have brought you low”, saith my God,
For the Day of the Lord cometh to thee,
It shall fail not, a judgment most righteous shall befall you!
Yea, it cometh to a nation afar off, to one which listens not!
Even my people forget, none taketh it to heart.
Repent, lest I tear you and rend you in pieces!

Psalms 1:4  ¶The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5  Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6  For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

As for me, I have enjoyed the splendor of her beauty,
I have walked among the desolate area’s,
Yea, in the high ranges near to the stars,
Also in the low valleys where the rivers flow,
I have seen thy coasts, I have beheld it,
Yea, I have truly enjoyed the natural splendor’s,
Which the LORD God has given unto thee!

Isaiah 2:12  For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:

As I did this, upon the Prairie did I see,
Thy fall oh Proud one,
For this was a virgin land in the day you found her, oh Harlot,
Now you have taken her innocence, and filled her with abominations!
The land is defiled, the people mocketh me daily.
I have sorrowed over thee,
I have wept at thy demise,
I do not weep for thy Proud sins,
Fort all these shall be removed by fire!
In the day the LORD hath spoken,
Saying “Surely, I will judge the nations and the people righteously”.

Hebrews 11:8  By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
9  By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
10  For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

Yet for thy demise, thou knoweth not.
I have lived in thy lands,
I have eaten at thy tables,
But I have repented,
I have refused thy gifts,
I seek thee not!
I am as one in a foreign country,
I now look for a city, as did Father Abraham,
This city, its builder, maker, and light of it, shall be the LORD himself!

Psalms 1:1  ¶Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

I seek a place where righteousness,
Yea where peace is established,
Moreover, where the Lord Eternal is the Fountain of life,
Yes, it is He, the ONE True God, the sustenance of all things,
All shall be made new, and in him shall his people be found.

Luke 21:34  And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
35  For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36  Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

I have spoken to him, “deliver me out of this place”,
And again, “remove me from this place of judgment”.
I have ‘prayed to be worthy to escape all these things coming’!
I long to come to thee Oh God, to thy place,
Thus have I said, “Thy Kingdom Come, Oh Lord, On earth,
Truthfully, as it is in Heaven”, so Have I spoken.

2 Peter 2:9  The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

I know thy voice, Oh LORD,
Thy Spirit has led me in thy Path,
Thy righteous ways are before me oh God.
I know thy comforts,
I know thy calling,
I know thy coming is near,
Yet in all this, my heart is gripped!
Yea, thy Spirit speaketh to me of things to come,
Before thy Kingdom arrives, these shall occur.
So strengthen thy people Oh LORD,
Grace to those who keep thy commandments,
and Keep the faith and testimony of Jesus!
The only begotten Son of the Living God,
Again, strengthen these Oh LORD,

Revelation 14:12  Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

May those who have not done so,
Repent with a full heart, turning to you,
Yea, following thee in truth!

1 Peter 5:5  ¶Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Bend Toward the LIGHT

Bend Toward the LIGHT~
by the Watchman Dana G Smith
keywords: light, God, Father, Jesus Christ, Y’Shua Ha Massiach, saved, darkness
Words: 2773

I saw a new plant today, one I planted from the seeds of an apple. It had grown and was on the shelf. As I saw it, in the beginning of the day it was straight as I had just put it in the sunlight. Later on in the day after a portion of the days sun shining on it, it was bending toward the sun, the light!

Through the day the sun continued to shine on this small plant, it was growing and pointing about 45 degrees towards the sun where the rays of light came from through the window. As night came, I moved the plant onto the counter as it was small I tucked it gently near a corner. The morning came as usual and I saw the small green plant. It was still green and fresh, standing tall as ever. But it was standing straight up. Even with the kitchen light on, the plant never moved toward these rays of light.  The Florescent light did not cause the plant to bend towards its light either.

As I write this today and think of our small plant that came from the seeds of an apple, I also enjoy the coming season. It is not the winter of ‘discontent’ but the summer of ‘content’. This is time for animals around here to take a breather from the harsh realities of winter. It is tough make it through the months of bitter cold and snow. When spring and then summer arrives, the animals especially since we have so much moisture, seem to romp, play, and act as if relieved of the goodness that surrounds them. But even summer is short lived in this area. So is, life in general. Life is short. Daily I am amazed at how just fragile, short, and precious life can be. You see, as humans, we too, bend towards the light. And that light can come from various sources. But there is only One True light. This light, lightens the entire world!

Job 24:12  Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them.
13  ¶They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.
14  The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief.
15  The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth his face.
16  In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light.

As humans we have forthrightness of thought, or so we think. God as some may acknowledge him, has given to man rational thought. Others think a bit of goo just appeared and we became rational and the masters of our own destiny. While even others know full well who the true Living GOD is and wilfully reject his love. These follow even other thoughts and motivations. For these following the ‘lightbearer’ or Lucifer is their main goal.  It is this light which rejects the ‘love of the Father’, Jesus Christ his son, and salvation as the Gospel is given. In this light comes all forms of religions, idols, Gods, meditations, astrology, new age, and other attractions. All of them are rebellion against the ONE True God, Yahweh.

Furthermore, this God, even the True God Yahweh, Adonai, I AM that I AM, even our Father, has reached out to mankind. The battle is on today to lessen that which God has done. Lies from the ‘false lights’ go out. But the true light, which lighteth everyone is before us today. It is that light which will cause us to grow as green plants, before the LORD. It is that light which will cause us to hunger and thirst for His Truth, for behind this Truth is a great LOVE that no man can fathom. A Love which will cause all those who are planted in the LORD God through Y’Shua Ha Massiach, Jesus Christ to bend towards him. These small plants look tenderly to their Father, and his light causes them to bend towards him. In heart, mind, soul, and body.

Psalms 4:6  ¶There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.
Psalms 18:28  For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.
Psalms 27:1  ¶<<A Psalm of David.>> The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalms 112:4  Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

The Light of which we follow today must be the ‘true light’.  The LORD Jesus Christ came into the world because of the truth of LOVE, which the Father and the Son both possessed. They loved each other, and loved mankind! The Son came so we might believe on him and be saved from death. He was, is, and always has been the ‘true light’.

2 Corinthians 11:14  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

It was in Jesus that life was poured out. Both on the cross for our sins and for the Father who sent Him. It was that life which can be poured into our lives, His life giving Spirit in our Lives, forever. It was also not just to the Jews as a promise, but to the Gentiles. Isaiah 42:6 says “I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles.” It is given to man to understand this, the Choice is yours! It is God who is light and as in 2 Corinthians 4:6 “who commanded the light to shine out of darkness”, and it is God as well which says in the same verse that God “hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” It is time, my friends, to point your little plant towards the light of God and let it grow. Be sure, you are Bending towards the TRUE LIGHT!

It was our LORD who said that in the World, he was indeed the ‘light of the world.’  [John 9:5] It also is a fact that  Jesus said in John 12:46 “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.” This is the LIGHT, plain, simple, and a God fact. You can debate it, ignore it, deny it, fabricate lies about it, follow ‘Lucifer’ the light bearer and his false lights of prophets, or you can believe the truth. The TRUTH, is as Jesus said, “I AM, the WAY, The TRUTH, and the LIFE.” [John 14:6] NO matter what you do or others around you, it won’t change eternity or the Word of God, or the LORD himself. He cannot deny who he is!  HE is LIGHT, and there is no darkness in HIM! God has given you a choice! YOU can abide in Jesus today, who brings us to the Father. It is in Him that we can be ‘light’, ‘salt’, and ‘not be in darkness’! John the Baptist testified of the Son of God, the Lamb of God, who was the light of the world. Johns Gospel said of Jesus “In him was life; and the life was the light of men. ¶And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” [John 1:4-5]

James 1:18  Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

In eternity right now, there is the Word of God. The bible which we have contains our copy of that Word. Jesus was the Word incarnate. For he was in the beginning with God, and he himself was God, and there was not anything made, that was made, that was not made by him. [John 1] It is a God fact, a God truth, and reveals the active breathing completion and supernatural power of the ‘Word of God.’  God gave his commandments, in Proverbs 6:23 it says “For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life.” It was through the law that we came to know what sin was. It was and is through this same Law that we understand how Holy God is. Jesus said in Matthew 5:17 ; ”Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.”  Jesus also say that the Word of God is Truth. He said specifically in John 17:17 while speaking to the Father, praying for the disciples; saying “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” The truth is, Jesus Christ, he was and is, and always will be the Word. God gave his word to man! We can trust his word. This is the difference between the false prophets, that are false lights, and the ‘true light which lights every mans heart’ who seeks him in ‘Spirit and truth’. From the False lights come lawlessness and rebellion. From the LORD of Truth comes ‘Truth, Light, and law’. Jesus fulfilled that law, while at the same time giving us commandments. The Apostles taught these commandments and even went so far as to say in 1 John 5:3 “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.”

John 15:10  If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

As his lights, we are to walk in His love, this itself is a commandment, to follow mercy, to worship only our God and none else which is a commandment. These are only examples, but think on this, if you think you are a light of God and openly worship another God, are you following his will? No! Think on this awhile, we are to walk in the Spirit, have the fruits of the Spirit in our lives, and love one another. This is the True God, True Light, and True follower who knows his LORD and does those things which he commands. [John 15:10] Many will come to him on that day and say LORD, LORD, but he will say to them,  “I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” [Matt 7:23] Jesus then gives a parable to illustrate what he means by saying that “whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house: and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.” [Matt 7:24-25] In these days and the age of the endtime, we will face many things, and the question is, “do you want your house to stand or fall?” If you want to make it through and stand before the LORD as a faithful servant, then follow the ‘True LIGHT and do those things he commands us to do!’  For those who do not do this shall be likened unto a fool!

Matthew 7:26  And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

It is that which you must decide today! Follow a fools folly and do as many Christians, churches, and even unbelievers do, i.e. ‘follow their own will and thinking’ or truly be a Disciple of the LORD and be in His LIGHT! In America Christians and those in Churches have created a great religiosity! A great religion with great edifices, and very wealthy. The time is coming and it is short, in which, the fire of Gods burning will burn all that is not founded upon the Rock, Jesus Christ. Not just founded in name, but in discipleship and true veracity in obedience. There will be no escape for those who wallow in America and in her churches thinking this alone will provide safety. For I tell you, every brick of such will be torn down. Only those in the LORD will stand.

Proverbs 13:9  ¶The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
Isaiah 5:20  Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Matthew 6:23  But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

The Sad reality today is the world is in chaotic blindness towards the True light. The God of this world, the Apostle Paul says in 2 Cor 4:4 has “blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” All nations today are feverishly working to create a man made utopia on earth. One where the full potential of mans ability, knowledge, and moral awareness is found. The trouble is, man does not have any moral awareness! Man has religion, but that will send him directly to Hades! Man cannot create such a haven or heaven on earth. Man is the resident renter on this planet. The current landowner, or so he thinks, the devil, will be cast off soon. All those who follow him will be destroyed. Mans ways will be erased from this planet. The earth, the heavens, and all that is therein, will be renewed in God.

The battle is heating up and many who are Gods ‘lights’ in the world have always been the martyr and found death in HIM, who died for each of these on Calvary’s cross. It is a battle where the world, its leaders, and the people who have rejected Gods truth of Love [love illustrated-John 3:16; love rejected 2 Thess 2] will find another light, one they will follow. This one will lead a mass portion of the population down the rat hole of destruction. It is time, my friends, find the true light, seek Him today, let your plant grow in him. Your plant, i.e. ‘your body, mind, soul, spirit’, all you have dedicated to the LORD God and his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, Y’Shua Ha Massiach. It is in Him we must be, for he must be both Savior and LORD today!

There will be a time, my friends, when all this is gone, vanished. Into thin air, with the rebellion, sin, iniquity, hatred, and virulence towards God! It will be those, the nations of them, ‘Which are saved that shall walk in the light of Gods heavenly kingdom.’ Make sure your one of those, Seek HIM today! Plant yourself towards the LORD God and his purpose. Let yourself be watered by his ‘righteousness’ and ‘goodness’ today! For in a World that is sick, full of sin, with only sinful men to lead them out, there is no hope in that scenario my friends. Make sure, you know the Light, of which, you are following and bending towards today!

Revelation 21:23  And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
Revelation 21:24  And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
Revelation 22:5  And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
