2 Timothy 4:6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

When reading the words of the Apostles we find much in their lives and what they faced. As we read it, or as I read it, I can literally look into the daily situations they came up against. For all they went through, they did not face the Judgment of a nation, per se, as we will see in these last days. Even the Prophets declared, rose up early, and warned Israel of coming judgment. The Prophets faced the judgment along with the rest of the people, howbeit, we find they like Jeremiah were allowed to stay in their native land or go to Babylon. Ezekiel, however, was led captive to Babylon, as was Daniel. But for all their experiences, the early church did not face this, but faced persecution. Theirs became one of the biggest persecutions of the church. It was the persecution while living in the Roman Empire at the hands of the Caesar’s who declared laws against the ‘Christian’ believers.

The early Christians knew paganism well and also the religious aspect of the Roman empire that aspired and grew around them. Rome never forbade religious exercise unless it threatened the empire or became at odds with the Gods of the empire or the Caesar himself. The era of Christian persecution in the empire of Rome spread itself by Nero [54-68], then by Maximinus the Thracian [235-238], followed by Emperor Decius [249-251]. Another round found its way to the Christian under Valerian [253-260], but the last and most cruel of all persecutions was under Diocletian in 305. It was under this emperor that laws were passed in which made it illegal to possess sacred books and enjoy fellowship in churches. This was followed by the illegalization of any persons who were Christian priests, unless said priest made obeisance to the Roman Gods with sacrifices. Then the Emperor made his final coup etat, by making all people in the Empire bow and make sacrifices to the Roman gods under threat of death. During the onslaught of persecution many a Christian bled his last drop of blood, the life giving force, forming a seed for the next generation of believers. It is in that hallowed hall that every disciple of Christ must enter and fully realize that we are not alone, but part of the same ‘living breathing organism’. The Lord led the way, for his friends, so too, we can follow our Lord, our Friend, and our Master into the depths of what he has called us unto: a greater good, a greater calling, a greater eternity, and a greater witness so that men may be saved. This is the Martyrs Anointing!…The Watchman Dana G Smith

Jesus in John 15 speaks of the unity and union of the vine and the branches. This is a living breathing relationship. One where the Lord of Glory infuses those who are connected to him through faith and the work of the Holy Spirit with life giving Supernatural power that affects the Natural.
