Nwsltr-101710-When Hell Comes Knocking
“When Hell comes knocking, a message for the times in which we live, preparing for what is coming, that  which shall come to pass shortly”

By the Watchman
Dana G Smith
Keywords: hell, hell comes knocking, devil, kingdoms, men, nations, Jesus Christ, Lord, believers, word, faith, patience, Satan, world, end times

Words: 2873

Luke 4:5  And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6  And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
7  If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
8  And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Revelation 1:9 ¶I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ

When one considers hell, it is true, many do not consider it at all. The fact is, as Americans anyway, hell is that somewhat vague representative of a bygone era. One where death, destruction, and ever lasting torment reside. It gives forth the belching of fire, volcano’s, heat, sulfur, and darkness.  As for Americans, sinners and hell have been replaced by fun and a do it your way mentality that has even invaded the church.   The question then must be asked is America too civil to become a devil’s house? If it does become such or maybe as many believe it has already become one, what then? Will events in the nation become to change the very structure of this American society? I tell you and many who have seen the current political landscape have already seen the change. For years we have seen all forms of invasion to this nation, from outright debauchery to the illegals who have come to these shores to obtain what they can from this country.

Case in point here is Obama’s Aunt, who up till recently, was an illegal resident living on the east coast. In one interview that I saw, she mentioned in so many words, ‘that this country is under God and her living free on the nation here is part of God taking care of her’. Well she and many in this country also see things this way. They never consider the fact that free money doesn’t exist and it comes not from Obama and the government, but from the working men and women of the nation called America. Of course, the current Prez as I call him was brought into power to foment that change. We have witnessed this change in the form of a gradual coast into socialism. It seems like Stalinism has moved into the White House. The current situation in America is one where I tell you that “Hell will come knocking.” When it does, those who did not listen before will have to take notice of it. For the escape from it will be difficult if not impossible. For the America you and I have come to know, is for all intents dead. Many try to bring it to life again as they pump air, give it mouth to mouth, and put it on life support systems. But even if it does manage to stand up, it will be a mere shell. It will more ‘the walking dead’ that the nation our forefathers came to see arise from the dust.

Indeed, as I write this the cool October chill is reminding me of the November elections. Many are hoping that in this will bring the order of Obama’s change to an abrupt halt. But on Obama’s side and many in the Democratic and even among Republicans, the hop toward a gradual socialist agenda has been in the works for some time. Many do indeed want what Obama offers, especially many illegals in the country who see it as their ticket to all those things America has become to the nations. That is wealth and prosperity.  But the one thing many forget, that is, many who don’t believe in hell, judgment, sin, or even God, and that is the nations are not in control. The one who governs is in control. Whose that you ask? Need I say, well here it is!  What occurs will be in the hands of Almighty God, the LORD! In the end, there is no man, woman, or child that can keep alive their own soul. All is in the hands of this God. Even nations cannot keep their own soul, when the governor of the nations has sent down judicial judgments upon it. Surely, if you don’t know it by now, it has already been sent! That doesn’t mean the end tomorrow, but it means, all that is in this nation will be subject to and affected by the Word of the LORD that has gone out in regard to America.

Psalms 22:28  For the kingdom is the LORD’S: and he is the governor among the nations.
29  All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul

There was another time when “hell came knocking”. Jesus was in the wilderness and after a 40 day fast and prayer, the enemy showed up. Hell itself dressed in subtlety, the devil saith to the Lord; “All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.” All of the nations, the men, the thrones, the gold, silver, armies, and all the glory that a man or even a woman could obtain belong to the devil, according to his word anyway! Now you who are believers, know today that things are different. That in fact, the LORD destroyed all the power of this evil one and brought down all principalities and powers.  All in one fell swoop that began before the foundation of the world.

Colossians 2:15  And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Ephesians 1:4  According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

But make no mistake here, the devil was the chief opposition to the freeing of man from sin, death, and the grave. Not to mention, that many men and women today are also the chief opponent to the freeing of mankind from their sins.  That is why today, as it was in Jesus time, “hell came knocking”, not to really win, for I believe the devil knew all along he would not win. The idea was to see this one who called himself the “Son of God” and challenge him. Maybe he could get lucky again, like when he deceived Eve and thus brought down both Adam and Eve with one fell temptation. Nevertheless, it really doesn’t matter whether the devil knew he could win or not. The fact was, he was used of God to demonstrate power and authority. The devil was one of the main principals that Jesus “spoiled” having made a “shew openly of them”.  The battle was not even close, the devil lost scoring not a point to his side.  Today, though, his lies and his minions who follow him have succeeded in scoring victories in the world. These have been to bring the battle of the “faith of the Gospel” and the “kingdom of our Lord” to a forefront. The devil will and has come knocking again. This time, he has won over America. Maybe not lock, stock, and barrel so to speak. But he has “powers in the high places” of this nation. Men and women who are sold out to his ways, for gain, glory, and led by a blindness that only God can remove. As you and I walk in the faith of the Lord and follow him, those in power in this nation are already making plans to shut up the Gospel of Jesus Christ and his followers.

Ephesians 6:11  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Within this is the media. Examples of what I speak about can be found on our www.ddayforamerica.com, video blog. Here we have many short video’s of news, and related clips of people that have their purposes to follow. For example one post is of ABC News which recently did a 20/20 special titled “Islam: Questions and Answers,” with Diane Sawyer, Bill Weir, and Lama Hasan. The program drew attention to moderate Muslims who will serve as America’s “first line of defense” against terrorism. The problem was that one major Muslim they portrayed was on video time and again on the streets of America denouncing our country and speaking of Islam.

In another example we have Robert Steele, a CIA Officer who tells it like it is
on the New world order, government, secrecy, congress, conspiracies, central banking, and Military Industrial complex. In it he warns us of America, the government, the CIA, and the New world order. In still another post we feature Americans for Peace and Tolerance (APT), who had just released a video showing 6th graders from Wellesley, MA as they rise from prostrating themselves alongside Muslim men in a prayer to Allah while on a public school field trip to the largest mosque in the Northeast. Teachers did not intervene. Parents have not been told. While Christians can barely speak of Christ, testify, and read bibles, let alone have the Ten commandments in public, our nation and schools are indoctrinating kids to Islam.  Finally,[and this is not all that we have], here is one more example. It is found on our www.wingswatchman.org site. It features a very short clip, under one minute and it features Anjem Choudary saying to a forum sponsored by a UK media with Christiane Amanpoure on it, saying that the “Flag of Islam will fly over the White House.”

You see “When Hell comes knocking” and it already has, your world, not only in America, but the nations of men themselves shall be engulfed in it. When this occurs, the question needs to be asked, what about you? What are you going to do? What will be your answer to the many warnings of which we and others have spoken.

We have been warning for years. The first time I spoke about what was coming to this nation was to my wife around 1973 when I told her of a series of visions I had as a young man. The full extent was not known then, only that “life as we knew it in America would cease.” Not that life, or man would cease, but that life as we Americans knew it, would no more exist. This is just one aspect of what we warn today, but the substance of what we have been warning is knocking on the doors of your house. They are shouting through the airwaves and coming into your home via television, radio, and shortwave. You read their stories, voices, and their messages in the news.

Yet for all this, I believe the listeners fall into these camps. The first camp are the ones who know it is coming. They are preparing both spiritually and physically. They know to make it, it will be by the Grace of the LORD and his provision. The second camp are those who can be called believers, and may or not be actually born again, but they either think they will be gone at the time of this or they think it will not occur till the very end of all things prophetic. Then there are those who don’t think this will occur at all.  These are the main camps of those who live today, spread in these are smaller groups of varied philosophies and persuasions on this matter.

One thing for sure, it is coming and to this, we must also be sure, that the Lord is the key and who is the Lord to you? For me, it is Jesus Christ, Yeshua Ha Massiach. He is the only begotten of the Father. He came to this earth, revealed the Love of the Father, fulfilled prophecy and the law, did many miracles, testified to the generation, was cruelly treated, even to death, the death of the cross. Was buried, rose again, and ascended to heaven and is on the right hand of the Father. He is coming soon again to establish the Throne of David, and the Kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 15:3  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4  And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
5  And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
6  After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
7  After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
8  And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

It is to this I testify and will continue to testify to all men as God gives me strength. For the kingdom builders and the men who build them hate the LORD. They hate that there is only One Savior between God and man. That savior, Jesus Christ, Yeshua Ha Massiach, the only begotten of the Father. They hate that “all men have sinned” and thus need a savior. They hate that there is a hell and know by themselves they cannot make heaven. But they continue in their delusion.

Today, there are many religions with their own brand of ‘Savior’ with people who wait for them. One of these kingdoms, is the ‘Islamic Madhi’. It is their belief in a one world Islamic sharia rule. They also believe it will become a real one world rule and very soon! In that rule, they see America and the ‘Madhi’s flag’ over the White House. What people don’t really know is, the “flag of Islam” already flies over the White House! I did a Newsletter on this some time back. In that kingdom, only their way counts. Anyone not making allegiance to their God will die!  Others believe in a ‘Catholic’ reign on earth, where the ‘Catholic church’ directed from the Vatican will rule all its children, the gentile churches. Still there are others who see man’s technology and mans knowledge as the true ‘heaven on earth’. It will be through man, they say, that the world will find peace, safety, and harmony. To this end, many plot to bring in their kingdoms on earth.

I do not plot. I know the Lord will bring in his Kingdom in a given time. When the “Kingdom and Patience” of the Lord has been fulfilled we will see it on this earth. I intend to stick to what I must do, keep his Word,  walk with Patience, and keep the faith of Jesus Christ. Even to the end. When Hell comes knocking what will I be doing?

Revelation 1:9  ¶I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ

Revelation 11:15  And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

I intend to be praying, seeking the Lord, speaking his word of truth, and doing all I can to be accepted of him. To be found in him faithful. Do I worry, I try not. If my flesh thinks upon it, the flesh is weak and I rebuke it, then quote scripture. For I stand not upon Flesh and Blood, but upon the Word of God; the Son of God and his faithfulness.  For when the nations meet the Rock, the Stone which the builders rejected, it is the nations and the men in them that will lose. All those, however, who have put their hope in him, shall be with him, in his kingdom, forever.
So when Hell comes knocking, remember these words, “faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” What will he do?  “The Lord will preserve your whole spirit and body and soul unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

1 Thessalonians 5:23  ¶And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24  Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

Ephesians 6:12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places

Nwsltr-013110-The Beginning of Wisdom

The Beginning of Wisdom

“The wisdom that saves, through faith and love.” It is pure, from the Father, a wellspring of love and life through faith in Jesus Christ our LORD! But this wisdom gives us much more! Its end is neverending, its fruit is bountiful, and its endurance is endless! It is unique, lovely, pure, hopeful, and in God himself. It is above the world and cannot be touched by it, but it can touch the world without hope! For in itself, it is hope, it is love, being found in the “love of the truth”, “the only begotten Son of The Father, Jesus Christ the Lord of Glory, and in those who are the children of the MOST HIGH through him who has saved us. This is true, for He is in us! ”

World by Wisdom does not Know God

World by Wisdom does not Know God

Psalms 111:10  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

Proverbs 1:7  ¶The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 9:10  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Wisdom:
According to ISBE, p 3089, on wisdom who quotes another author on the subject, Smend saying “the art of reaching ones end by the use of right means”. As we look at this description, we understand that for many, the art of being wise, usually comes with age. That is, learning from ones age, experiences, mistakes, and those things they do correct and with all this, having wisdom with experience. So that a ‘wise man’ is at his best in his old age! But in dealing with ‘religion’, we find that those who give acute attention and devotion to the things of God over the things of that which people give to the world, are those in scripture who are ‘wise’ and who seek ‘wisdom’!

Our Lord tells us the a ‘wise man’ is one who has heard the sayings of his and does them. He uses this in his teaching in Matthew 7, which is in the context of chapters from the beatitudes to the general directions he gives, such as this one ‘admonishing people to build their house upon a rock’. That rock, of course is Jesus Christ, his commandments, his words to those who would follow him. Thus, this is wisdom, not only to hear our Lord, but to listen, apply it to the heart and mind, then follow what he says to do!

Matthew 7:24  Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock

:

The wisdom that we walk in is God’s wisdom, while we do have wisdom of the world, that is to do, live, and walk in the world, we are simply not of the world. Our desires are not the worlds desire, our motives are not of the worlds. And finally, we are of the ‘light’ and do not the things of the world, which in darkness is done, fulfilling the lusts of the flesh and the desires of the mind. In short, the wisdom of God, comes with not just what God is telling us to do, but with a Power to do that which he commands us to do! It is through this, that we are cleansed, by faith, through obedience, and the sprinkling of the blood of Christ Jesus. We had to be obedient and come to God by faith, for without this small amount of obedience with faith, it would of been impossible.

1 Corinthians 3:19  For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

We have come, first, unto to the Lord who has drawn us. It is now in him we are, and as such we do what he says. He leads us by his Spirit and in this, through his Spirit we are taught, led, empowered, comforted, and kept. But for men and women everywhere, the truth here is, the ‘wisdom’ of God is not understood by this world! But the true wisdom here is realizing that true wisdom lay in the LORD God who has saved us. It is in him we must be, it is his wisdom that has saved us, through the mystery of the power of Christ in the Cross, being baptized by the covenant of his blood. A permanent deliverance that as believers we can rejoice in, if we faint not and do not give up!

The danger we have in this world, especially in the church is to revel in our own glorious wisdom. We must be careful for the flesh gets puffed up easily and must be courted with care. For when our own wisdom is puffed, then cometh pride, and pride, when it is fulfilled in us, brings us to a fall. It is not us, but the power of God within us, his Spirit and his word in our hearts that bring us to fruitfulness. Our obedience to him, seeking his wisdom and knowledge, by this, we walk on that path of the pearl of wisdom. For by this wisdom, we find the light of salvation and truth! Jesus said to certain Jews which believed on him, “if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed, and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free-John 8:31-32″. Here we find more wisdom, through His word, continuing therein, only then are we considered his disciples and through this, we shall ‘know the truth and that truth shall make us free.” Free from blindness, free from death of sin, free from the wrath of God, and much more be the benefits of knowing this God through is Son Jesus Christ.

In Proverbs, Wisdom is seen as a woman. This metaphor is brought to teach us the devotion and love we must have to this ‘wisdom’, which is in itself, a word for our God. For he is wisdom, and in our seeking wisdom, we seek Him, his word, and thus we find this wisdom. We are not to forget her, nor forsake her, but we are to preserve her and love her. In doing this, she, that is, ‘wisdom’ will keep us. In all we do, this wisdom is what we must seek, get, and get understanding of. By this wisdom, promotion, honour, grace, glory, and life are ours.

Proverbs 4:5  Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6  Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
7  Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
8  Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
9  She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
10  Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.

Today, as believers we find the true wisdom, in and of our God, who is the Father, and of Christ who is our savior. “In whom are hid” says the Apostle Paul “all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge”. This is what we need to know, that what we know, of our God, our Father, and our Christ, is ‘wisdom and knowledge’ and this is not found in men nor mens wisdom, nor the worlds wisdom! But there are men today that sound so wise and bring to you such wisdom and knowledge that with enticing words try to beguile you. These are those who do not our God and our Father, let alone his only begotten son Jesus Christ. The knowledge and wisdom that saves, delivers, and brings you into his kingdom are only found in Him! Period! “Therefore,” Paul says, or because of these things, “as ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord so walk ye in him, rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware, lest any man spoil you through Philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ-Col 2:2-8.”

This is what today we must do, having found Christ, as Paul speaks to the Colossians, we must walk in him. There are so many deceivers, philosophies, teachings, new age, devil delusions, and satanic snares that we must find the wisdom and knowledge of God in Christ and find it only one place. That is in our devotion to, our faith in, and our fellowship with this God our Father and our Savior, his son, Jesus Christ. We must place our heart, soul, mind, and dedication firmly in him, not looking to the left nor the right. Not giving place to delusions, deceptions, vain deceits, vain rudiments of the world, fancy philosophy of men, nor man made religious deceptions. It must, that is, our foundation, must again be firmly in Christ our LORD and nowhere else. In prayer, in fellowship, in fastings, in his Word, in obedience, in truth, and in love.

We find a good example of ‘wisdom’ and her children in the section found in Luke 7. The generation that saw Jesus Christ, Yeshua Ha Massiach had many who rejected him. There were others who knew who he was. Of such was a woman whose sins were many. She knew, not saying a word to the true LORD of Glory, that he was ‘wisdom’, ‘honor’, ‘salvation’, and much more. She wept, kissed his feet, wiped them with her hair after her tears made his feet wet. She then poured alabaster ointment over him. Jesus saw a women who was in sorrow over her sins, and one who knew him. She knew he was LORD and sought him as such. Yet she did not say forgive me, she said all this with tears and action. Her heart spoke loud and clear. The religious Pharisee saw a wicked woman and was appalled by it. He had no love, no pity, no compassion for her. The woman loved much and had faith. In this, Jesus says to her that her ‘faith has saved her’. She knew who he was, came to him, weeping, loving, kissing, pouring oil on his feet. All this in spite of a crowd. All this in spite of the religous who would mock her and see her as filthy. All this because in the midst of all the people, Jesus stood out as the LORD of Glory, the Messiach Yeshua who was to come. She knew, she came, she had faith, she loved him. He forgave her, loved her, and filled her heart.

Luke 7:34  The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!
35  But wisdom is justified of all her children.
36  ¶And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to meat.
37  And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

Luke 7:38  And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39  Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
40  And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.
41  There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
42  And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
43  Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
44  And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
45  Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
46  My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
47  Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
48  And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
49  And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
50  And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

In conclusion, this is the reason why there is ‘wisdom’. A ‘wisdom’that is from God, in God, and given to us through Jesus Christ, His word, His Spirit, and is driven by love and faith. The main objective of all this is people, i.e., souls of lost people, hopeless people, amid a world of carelessness and hopelessness. Souls of people who in the worlds vain wisdom and knowledge cannot find the truth nor the wisdom and love of God. But in Gods wisdom, which brings forth salvation to all men, also delivers to these who call upon him by faith, a relationship of love with God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. A love that cannot be understood until you find this ‘wisdom’ that saves!

No Balm, is there no Physician?

‘Is there no balm for healing? To the Laodacians, put on Eye salve that you may see properly!’

“No Balm in Gilead for the Rebellious”

Jeremiah 8:14  Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our God hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.

15  We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold trouble!

20  The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.

22  Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?

“Utter Rejection for a People who did not listen”

Jeremiah 14:19  Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul lothed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? we looked for peace, and there is no good; and for the time of healing, and behold trouble!

20  We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against thee.

21  Do not abhor us, for thy name’s sake, do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.

22  Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.

Jeremiah 15:1  ¶Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.

The House of My Pilgrimage

The House of My Pilgrimage
“In the house of your Pilgrimage, you can have hope, through the Word of God given to you”

by the Watchman
Dana G Smith
Keywords: Pilgrim, christians, Jesus Christ, world, Lord, God, Word, commandments
Words: 2029

We know well the word ‘Pilgrim’, and for most Americans it refers to the first people who came to these shores. They were not ‘Americans’ as yet, but were foreigners, sojourners, or pilgrims. They left their familiar shores and came to a strange land on a ‘pilgrimage’, that is, a journey to a foreign land, by a traveler or sojourner, a pilgrim if you will. We look on these first people to stand on the shores before the nation we call America was officially founded as the ‘Pilgrims’, even calling them the ‘first Americans’. But they were not official Americans as yet. But to these shores there were others here already, and although they were not strangers to this land, they also were not Americans, yet.  This, though is not about who or what were or are considered the real Americans. The truth be told, all are on their own ‘Pilgrimages’ in this world of ours.

As Christians and followers of Jesus Christ, we are Pilgrims as well. As Abraham left his native origins and looked for a ‘city whose builder and maker was God’, he was a sojouner and a traveler. A Pilgrim, who looked for this city that the Lord had built.  The descendants of Abraham also were ‘Pilgrims’ in a foreign land. The land called Egypt and after 400 years came out of that land which had at the start been a refuge had become a taskmaster. The descendants of Abraham, “Pilgrims” and “Foreigners” in the land knew what it was like to abide under a hard hand, as slaves, and not actually belong to a place or a land. It was to these Hebrew slaves that Moses was sent to bring Gods deliverance to them and make a place for these “Pilgrims” in a land of their own. A land given to them by the Lord God.

The book of Hebrews mentions this about many of our ‘forefathers’ in the ‘faith’ who died not having received the promises. These embraced the promises, which were found in the book of the law, or ‘instruction’, teaching if you will. God gave them these promises amidst the teachings and instruction to his people. These became persuaded that what God had promised in his Word was true, so they embraced these promises, but they never received the fulfillment of them. Although they embraced them, and were persuaded that they were true, these people also “confessed they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.” Hebrews 11:13.   Peter in his first Epistle, second chapter and verse eleven addressed the Christian believers in this manner “I beseech you as ‘strangers and pilgrims’.”

Hebrews 11:13
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

There was no doubt that these believers some of whom were Gentiles, found themselves in a different world. With them were many Jewish believers as well. These groups made up the early church. They had been convinced of the Messiah Yeshua and his work on the cross, along with his death and resurrection. They knew and believed the testimony of those who had personally seen, witnessed, lived with, and were taught by the Son of God, Jesus Christ. These things put them at odds with the Jews who did not believe, of which, made up the majority of the Hebrew Jewish religious of their day. With these were the pagans, the idolater, and many others who served the gods of their day, they also did not believe.  This was the world the early church was in. Another world, one which the Word of God says that “friendship with the world is enmity with God” James 4:4. In short, they were in the world and not of the world. They were the light of the world, they were the salt of the earth, but they were not like the world nor of it! They were followers of Jesus Christ, separated unto him in righteousness and with a calling to take up their cross and follow him. They were in fact now, ‘strangers and pilgrims’ on the earth and now waited for the coming of the Lord to the earth to establish his kingdom.

“The House of My Pilgrimage”

If there is one thing that is missing from the ‘Americanized Church’ or the ‘Christianized Pagan Church in the world’ is the fact that we are different. We are sojourners, travelers, as was Abraham, the Israelites, all who claimed the Lords promises, and the early church. Today more than ever we must understand that as the world gets more ungodly and the church becomes more lukewarm and harlot centered, those who are the ‘remnant’ believers are not of this world. They are ‘pilgrims’. In fact they are living in the ‘House of my Pilgrimage’. This phrase ‘House of my Pilgrimage’ is found in Psalm 119. It describes the place where true believers are living. The House, is the world or the place where they now possess as a traveler, and ‘Pilgrimage’ describes the traveler or pilgrim as one who is on a journey in this land, maybe even taking up residence here but they are not home yet, they are foreigners, who are waiting for and looking to the ‘Kingdom of God’, and the promises to be fulfilled in us and for us. Promises that are found in the law, or instruction, in the prophets, and in the New testament as well. Promises that are laid in Him, our Lord Jesus Christ, to the glory of the Father who has redeemed us through his mercy.

Couplets: A stanza consisting of two successive lines of verse; usually rhymed

This phrase is found in an Spirit led Psalm that is also an alphabet acrostic. The Psalm is divided into 22 stanzas with eight couplets in each stanza. The couplets in the first stanza begin with the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet and continue in each stanza following the letters of the Hebrew alphabet.

In this Psalm, we find meditations on the Word of God, known in these sections and in the Word of God itself as the: law, commandments, testimonies, statutes, precepts, judgments, word, ordinances, and way, all of these describe the ‘divine revelation’ given by the Lord God in his Word to man.

The section that contains the phrase “in the house of my pilgrimage”, is found in verses 49 through 56 and the Seventh letter of the Hebrew Alphabet ‘Zayin’ leads it off. It is interesting to note that each Hebrew letter has a meaning as well. So this 7th letter means ‘plow’ or ‘weapon’. Both of which perfectly describes the ‘Word of God’.  For Gods Word both ‘plows’ the hearts of men and accomplishes that which God has directed and won’t return void. The Word of God also is a weapon, one that forms the main protection of believers. It is Gods Word, that is a sword!
It is Gods Word, that when we read it, moves upon the hearts of men and women. It stirs us, moves us, convicts us, gives us hope, and provides us with many promises in that regard.

It is these words, which the Lord God has given, that the Psalm asks of the Lord, “Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.” Psalm 119:49.  It continues: “This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.” This is what Gods word did then, it still does it today. It causes us to hope, by the work of God, through his Word and his Spirit. The Word of God strikes our hearts, in turn, it is planted, grows, and gives us faith to believe and hope. The Spirit of God, moves on that Word in us, and we have hope, walk in faith, and thus believe the Lord will fulfill what his Word says.

Psalms 119:49
ZAIN. Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.
50  ¶This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.

It is so important for us all to grasp this work of the Lord, through his Word. It can literally make us joyful, have peace, see prayer answered, and many more benefits of the Lord God, see Psalm 103. But it all entails us to be faithful, walk in his ways, keep his commandments, as our Lord Jesus Christ said, “if you love me, keep my commandments”, see John 15.  But when we read his Word, and then the Spirit of God quickens a Word to your heart, your spirit leaps, as does your whole being. You know, that you know, God has given you a word to believe, to hang on to, to rejoice in, and to trust that this Lord will bring it to pass, fulfilling it for you and in you. It is here that the Psalmist says further: “Thy statutes have been my songs in “the house of my pilgrimage.”

Psalms 119:54
Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.

There is no doubt that when God gives us a Word, and it is truly given to us, we can hold on to it, let it grow, and combine it with faith, believing that Faithful is the Lord who gives us his Word. Thus in the place of your pilgrimage, the house, that land, that city, that town, that neighborhood, that building, and within your family, you are a pilgrim on this earth. In that place, in the “house of your pilgrimage”, Gods Word, his statutes, those things he has given to us, are the songs in our heart. They are the fuel to keep us going, the promises to ensure our hope, and the faithfulness of our God who means what he says and is faithful to perform all of it to those who love him and keep his commandments.

The Apostle Paul writes concerning this saying “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” Romans 15:4.

It is through the patience and comfort of this word, the scriptures that we have hope. That this God who performed his word to those who were before us, will do the same for us. The same God who delivered, who healed, who fed, who took care of, who nurtured, who corrected, who led, and who did not desert his people, those who were before us, will do the same to us, if we believe, faint not, and hold to his Word.

It is here that I leave you with a great promise, given to us by Jesus Christ who was and is a minister for the truth of God, confirming the promises made unto the fathers. Of which, we have a promise made to the Gentiles.  In him, Jesus Christ, the Gentiles shall trust. Because of this, the Apostle says “¶Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost” Romans 15:13.

Romans 15:9
And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.

Romans 15:10
And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.

Romans 15:11
And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people.

Romans 15:12
And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.

May God bless and keep you in Him, let the Word of God dwell in you, giving you Hope in believing, as you dwell “in the house of your pilgrimage” for your Lord Jesus Christ.
